No front line spinner for England because they will pick Moeen Ali. That could be the weak link that means we do not get the Ashes back.

Harris is a big loss. He's economical as well as a wicket taker.

Ali should be picked as a batsman who can spin a bit. Rashid picked as spinner. Stokes to miss out. That is reality. Won't happen.

England have shown that they can at least compete with Australia - all be it on a low slow pitch that does not help Johnson

Root's hundred was magnificent - though how different would it have been if he was not dropped by Haddin on nought?

Australia's wicketkeeper Brad Haddin will miss the second Ashes Test at Lord's for personal reasons, Cricket Australia have confirmed. Peter Nevill, 29, will make his Test debut in Haddin's absence but Haddin will remain on the tour and there is no suggestion that he is retiring.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali is a doubt for the second Ashes Test against Australia, which starts at Lord's on Thursday, because of a side injury. The Worcestershire off-spinner's fitness will be assessed during practice at Lord's on Wednesday.
Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid will be picked if Moeen is deemed unfit.

Australia's selectors have chosen to drop the allrounder Shane Watson after also learning that the wicketkeeper Brad Haddin will miss the second Ashes Test at Lord's for personal reasons. Peter Nevill, 29, will make his Test debut in Haddin's absence while Mitchell Marsh is set for inclusion at Watson's expense.

I think the Aussies are in free fall.
They thought we would roll over easy.

Let's stuff them while they are down.

Moeen Ali will be missed, but Rashid can bat and bowl.

Australia lead England by 362 runs at the end of Day 3 at Lords
    Australia 566 for 8 dec and 108 for 0 (Warner 63*, Rogers 44*) - England 312 (Cook 96, Stokes 87, Johnson 3-53, Hazlewood 3-68)
Despite decent fight back by Stokes and Cook (both unlucky dismissals), Australia firmly in control - expect declaration just after lunch?

Don't think there'll be any changes for the next test but if a change was to be made, what should it be?
I'd bring Rashid and Bairstow in, drop Lyth and Anderson, jiggle it about a bit. Have we got any really good young fast bowlers waiting in the wings?

I would bring in Bairstow for Ballance - maybe bat Root at 3
