In these trying times we need all the various art forms to sustain us. This is the album version of War from Frankie Goes To Hollywood - at 06:13 about 50% longer than the released version. A great instrumental build-up from the beginning and Ronald Regan samples (at least I think its him). Fav bit is around 3.55 in when Ronnie says "love, coupled with a mans pride" and then the massive bass cuts in. Pump up the volume and enjoy.
When I was young my older sister took me to the local cinema to see Showboat where Paul Robeson sang Old Man River (she also took me to see Mario Lanza in The Great Caruso)
You might not be into brass bands, but here's a fun clip of the number 1 brass band in the world. The Cory band from South Wales. Enjoy.
I'm not on facebook, but clicked away at it and found a way in. The old guy doing the splits at the end was a real surprise.
a wow moment that mate , they were using derek harriots record store in a kingston mall as the set ! the guy slightly off camera looked well spaced, but a lovely musical clip
Sad to hear that the fine singer/songwriter John Prine died this week from Coronavirus A jaunty live version of my favourite song of his. Blow up the TV, throw away the papers Go to the country, build you a home Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches Try to find Jesus on your own,
With all the terrible news we're hearing about the virus, I went hunting for a brighter announcement. Home And Away will return to our screens next Monday.
Nearly 70 years ago Solomon Burke recorded a wonderful song called Cry To Me. Everybody and his dog has had a crack at, but for mine Sol's version was the best. Then today I stumbled across a Jagger and the Stones rendition the song. Freakin' hell, it's brilliant. Jagger is something else .... as is the band. Cry To Me.
