One of my all time favourite drumming efforts. I never get sick of it. The legendary Carlton Barrett.
Now you're talking! Loved Jamaica; nae worries, nothing done in a hurry. Strangely reminded me of Wick in the very North of Scotland.
This IS a an order: Cardinal Series 1 on BBC iPlayer; four and a half hours of the finest crime drama I have ever seen!
Apart from the story it explains the relationship between the two main characters which has become 'settled' in Season 2. I am 99.9% sure you will be absorbed by Season 1.
George Raft was a real star in the old black-and-white screen days, known mostly for his gangster-like roles. Apparently it was true he had links to the Mafia in real life, just like Sinatra. However, old George could really dance, here he is doing a couple of routines plus one more, a cool cat if ever there was one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCHu-c6A6L0 www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9278O6EJxc .........and, last but not least, the 'Bolero' with Carole Lombard in 1934: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wg47cf11yc
One of my father's favourite actors along with James Cagney. He couldnae stand Bogart or these 'new' punters! Might have related this tale before but my Mum talked Tam into taking her to the 'piktchures' to see Paul Newman in 'Butch Cassidy'. This 'date' was to take place on a Saturday evening after my father had been on the lash all afternoon so he sh*t himself when he found out it was a double bill with 'Mash' so would not be out of the Kino until very near to closing time. According to my Mum she thinks he arranged a pass out (?!?) of the Kino to go to the pub next door for a between movie top up!
Went looking for those stars of the past Kenny and came up with Carol Lombard. Very nice. please log in to view this image
The reports of a couple of days ago that the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin was nearing the end of her life, sadly proved true. The great lady has passed away aged 76. The cause of death is said to be pancreatic cancer. Rest in peace.
Indeed, a real super star. That fantastic clip from The Blues Brothers is a fitting tribute to her. R.I.P. Aretha.
Here's an amazing piece of film from 1911. Sound has been added, but the content is breath taking. A person wouldn't be seen without a hat.
