The Arsenal Transfer Rumours Thread.

Discussion in 'Arsenal' started by Sanj, Apr 5, 2012.

  1. Vieira signed a new contract the year before he left us. Often contracts are bargaining tools or are easily broken with the right deal. Do agree it would be difficult though.

The main point I want to stress though is that we should not be settling for players that cant take us forward to a title.

Podolski can play CF when RVP is injured, then Gervinho or Chamberlain can come in to cover the left position. So we don't need another striker if we get Podolski.

I agree with Jayram, only buy quality. We really have to stop thinking so low. Dempsey and Sessegnon are not players who will improve the team much. Many of our current team should become squad players when we buy, not the other way round. And yes, signing a new contract doesn't make a player unavailable, it just pushes the price up, which is why I think we should go for someone else like Eriksen or Sigurdsson.

Not gonna lie, but Gotze and Hummels would be well out of our price range and probably wouldn't leave Dortmund for us unless they were desperate to play in another league (in which case Madrid or Barca would probably end up signing them). Sigurdsson's alright, but wouldn't exactly be a great signing, but the Vargas idea would be good, he'd be a great signing :). Podolski will be awesome if we keep RVP too and Dempsey would be a good signing if the price was right as he's quite a nifty player and definitely a massive upgrade on some of our current squad members.

And Clint Dempsey scores again, he'd be a good signing I think :p.

Yeah, also in the game he showed his versatility again. For most of the game he was leading their forward line and when they needed more attacking players he played as the number 10 so Fulham can get Orlando Sa into the team. On set pieces, he is always a threat.

Not a rumour I have seen but just something I would personally like - a new goalkeeper as back-up to Sczesz.

Either Al Habsi (cheap if Wigan go down) or Allan McGregor (cheap with Rangers financial crisis) would be solid goalkeepers that you could rely on.

Then we can sell Almunia and one of Mannone or Fab. We have too many average keepers on the books.

Agree, we do need a back up for Chensey as Fabianski will probably leave in search of first team football. The two GK's you mention are very good but might want to be first choice and they know how good Chensey is, not to mention how young he is. We might need a very experienced keeper who will then go on to a coaching role or something.

Yeah, I agree with this, not many current top flight keepers would want to be benching for someone so an older keeper's probably our best bet.

I saw some rumours going about that we're going to sell Mertesacker. I hope it's a load of crap, it's good to have a very good 3rd choice CB.

Yeah i agree. Dempsey is having the sesaon of his career its doubtful he will be able to reproduce this form again next Season.

Vertonghen and Podolski are the right calibre of player, most of the other players we're linked too would be useless to us.

if we bring in players they have to be BETTER than what we already have.

it was some daily mail article. the only reason (hardly) they gave for him leaving is that we want to sign vertongen. there was nothing in that article, it was a load of crap.

Do you think we should sign Yossi permanently? I do, he's a good pro and has been dependable in the games he's featured in.

  19. I have never been close to buying the Mail. Even when I ran out of toilet paper as a student, I never thought about it.
