giroud isn't a bad player. a different type of striker to what we've had in the past (6'3.5). tall, good in the air, but also good with his feet. i think he might be a back up as well. all this time we've been calling for wenger to buy a striker to help rvp along the way, and when he does we moan that he isn't good enough to be first choice. i think wenger has made a good move getting this guy. this season: 43 apps, 29 goals, 9 assists. not bad at all.
Bit off topic but just finished watching the Japan Australia game, have to say, was very very impressed with Honda, not only does he seem very good technically, he's also a grafter, we could do a lot worse than signing him. Surely Gazidis would be able to see that we would get back the money on shirt sales in Japan, he's a bigger hit than Kagawa IMO, and we've already got Miyachi who's a bit of a heartthrob at the moment. Also, on Kagawa, wasn't very impressed, he got taken off for a defender, had a few nice touches but over all seemed a bit out of the game/muscled out by the ockers. Not sure if he will be a great success in the prem, but Honda looks like he has the potential
I don't understand- are you saying that everyone in the French league is dross? Or just the guy who scored 25 goals last season and the guy who's been a creative force for Sochaux?
Rumour doing the rounds that the transfer of Yann M'Villa is to be anounced to the French stock exchange
You bet wrong. Aimed at Gary Neville for a comment he made before the match. Still an ungracious little tw*t though. You've scored a goal, you're first thought should be joy , not some petulant reaction to one of the biggest wind-up merchants in football!
It all depends on how good Giroud is. If he is the real deal then is it certain that RVP goes? Ok even if he goes, shouldn't Pod and Giroud be able to make up for his absence? Lets face it, if the Pod, Giroud, Walcott, Gervinho, Wilshere and OXO can't make up for RVPs goals and assists, then we really have a poor squad.
If Podolski and Giroud each score about 15, i'd be happy. I have little faith in Walcott and Gervinho, and Jack is injured, and the Ox isn't ready yet.
The Pod scored 18 and assisted 8 for a relegation bound team in the German league and Giroud scored over 20 and assisted around 16 in the French league. I am certain that Podolski will score around 15 for us. Giroud, i'm less certain, as he's coming from a less physical and demanding league than ours. If he's the main CF, i would expect at least 10-15 goals in his first season. Wenger will persist with him and he'll come good. Also, Walcott will get his fair share and i predict he will get between 10-15 goals. The new formation that Wenger is employing is bringing the best out of Walcott. Overall, Pods signiture will give our front three attack more balance and threat.
walcott-giroud-podolski i don't like not having rvp in there. i'm still pretty sure giroud is being signed as back up striker
I suppose signing Giraud could also mean Walcotts days are over. Or maybe Wenger just wants that much attacking strength. Im still hoping they break the bank for M'Vila. Would be such a useful signing
