It would make sense for us to sign him. I know his wages would be huge, but not having to pay a transfer fee would surely offset a lot of that? Plus some people are worth paying large amounts, and he's definitely worth it. The guy is a winner.
The business this summer has proved one thing. It is that this club are now run by corporate men whose first aim is to make profits for our owner. Just look at the majority of our transfer seasons over the past 7 or 8 years. The majority if not all of them yield a profit for the club which means that each year for nearly ten years now we have been underinvesting in the club. No wonder players do not stay. The important ones I mean. The rubbish won't go anywhere because they have a cushy number and the ones who have been loaned out have a large proportion of their salaries still paid by the club. Kroenke, Gazidis and Wenger will drive this club into mediocrity. Savage was right. We may have been a big club but that is beginning to fade in the memories of many people. For new fans of the game, we are looking very ordinary.
You guys are really funny. It just seems like you don't understand the basics of how a football club operates. "I know his wages would be huge," is a clue why we will not sign him. We are NEVER going to pay a substitute double what we would pay our first team players. If he comes to Arsenal we would pay him around 60K. Now do you still think we will sign him?
No, they didn't, is it hard for you to believe that many other Arsenal fans share my opinion, and that it's you, who's in the minority? Most Arsenal fans are currently pissed off at the way this club is being run. Or do you think fans are going to be content with seeing their best players being sold every summer, and going trophyless, and only challenging for a top 4 spot, precisely because we always let go of our best players without replacing them.
So you're saying a player like Drogba, would get paid the same salary as someone as useless as Chamakh, ah right, and that's what you call a good operating football club????? If a players wages are too high, there's always a solution, get rid of the deadwood taking space on the payroll, and problem solved, so instead of paying wages to useless players like Chamakh, and Squilachi, we can use the wages we spend on them, on an actual world class player. Right now Arsenal are wasting vast amounts of money on players like Chamakh and Squilachi, not to mention Park, whom we eventually loaned out. Chamakh, Park, and Squilachi barely featured last season, yet they're getting handsome weekly salaries. Remind me again on how this club is being properly run. While you're at it, why don't we give a raise to Mannone and pay him 60k as well?
It would appear that some people here will accept anything that is the " party line ". George Orwell's novel lives and thrives on some forums. Perhaps some people are happy with 4th place and forever being humbled by the likes of United and who find intrigue in struggling against lesser teams. It is they who sell the club short, just like the board.
Judging by this post and your sig one would get the impression that Arsene Wenger only became manager 7 years ago.
Welcome to this forum, you will find that there are a few supporters on here who are content and happy with challenging for top 4 positions.
The longer Wenger goes without success, the more people will forget about his achievements, he is tainting his own legacy with this continued path of failure and failing to win or challenge for titles. What Wenger achieved before is all well and good, but it's now been 7 seasons of nothing, but watching us regress and slip away from the other elite clubs, you can't just cling to the past as a way of making up for the current failures.
It pays to be optimistic. Obviously we'll never sign him, but we can hope, right? You're supposed to be one of the optimists, try some optimism away from the wenger subject.
Apparently, Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid. Well Wenger did say he'd only sign special players. Maybe the lure of playing with Ramsey and Jenkinson will be too hard for him to resist?
There will be no acquisitions before January, irrespective of who is released. I'd like to see Gnabry & Eisfeld progress well in the Reserves / U19 / U21 & NextGen getting as much game time as possible before loans in January if they won't be given 1st Team chances.
Hopefully they'll also get games in the League,Milk,Rumbelows,Littlewoods,Coca Cola,Capital One,Carling Cup
