There’s that everything is **** mantra coming up again
Is there even a decent hotel in brid? Premier inn?
There are quite a few decent hotels in Brid. Not to the tastes of people who go to Lanzarote and want some large soulless all inclusive place where they spend all day lounging about drinking and not enjoying local life.
Not really though is it.
Just that you have a soft spot for Scarborough, whereas some of us are of the view that Brid is ok and didn't deserve putting in the same bracket as Blackpool & Skegness, and that Scarborough has become a bit of a run down **** hole (albeit still with some nice places of course).
I've spent a LOT of time in both places over decades, including working in Scarborough for a long period, and have seen it's decline over the years first hand.
But each to their own; ok to have different views.
Re. hotels. Scarborough is around twice as big as Brid. It's history is also quite different, Not really comparable. There are nice places to stay in Brid.
Is there in Scarborough? That lurgy infested hole on the cliff top? The Travelodge opposite?
Name the Scarborough ones. Of course there is something called google where you can look up Brid hotels.
Scarborough has gone downhill. Some nice houses but the centre is a shadow of what it used to be.
Know it well. Nicely refurbed over the years. Possibly the best option (other than niche small hotels / b&b's).
Decent venue for meetings. Good food, nice restaurant.
Some rooms not so great. Our many international visitors used it regularly and the feedback was it was ok, not bad not great, and that the rooms didn't compare favourably with what they were used to!! Nice enough on the surface though.
I've been back to Scarborough a couple of times since I retired. I've been shocked by how it's continued to go downhill. I have literally no desire to return. But ... each to their own.
**** off Hull scum. Someone who thinks Wetherspoons is a classy joint is in no position to call anyone or anything.
I'll go for the cricket as usual this summer, assuming the ground hasn't been completely condemned by then, but I won't be hanging around afterwards.

I like the occasional day trip to the sea side but cleethorpes is a proper ****hole
