Genuinely 1st time of watching a nfl game

 

playing it generally helps or watching it when you are young.

When you are an adult you generally have a fully formed opinion especially when you follow other sports

 

15 minute quarters but the time stops a lot. 4 quarters

 

So it's a bit **** then to those that have seen better?

 

Yeh so I'm getting that gaining yards is a big part of it. But why? Why so i much about yards when essentially you want to score a touchdown or a kick goal thing?

Why all the stops I mean? What's done in those stops?

 

you get 4 goes to make 10 yards, unless you either drop the ball and they pick it up (fumble) or they catch it when the QB throws it.
In the stops the offence decide what they're going to do and the defence try and figure out how to stop it.

 

What happens if you don't make 10 yards, do the other team get a go?

yeah, but usually if they haven't made it by the 3rd try they boot it down the field on the forth, unless they're within about 35 yards.

 

Sounds riveting, must put it on my bucket list to watch half an hour of it
