I, like everyone else this morning, have woken to the reality that ‘Pool earned the greatest comeback in CL history, last night. Listening to TalkSport is going to be a nightmare for the rest of the year.
Just noticed the 9th is about Poch saying he'd 'go home and think about doing something different' when asked if he'd leave Spurs if they won the CL What do you make of that ?
Some right old bollox is being spouted by the likes of Mickey Dim tbf ... I'm pretty sure most Liverpool fans going to the game had scant hope that they could realistically go through... but Mickey is adamant that they ALL 'believed' because "dis is Liverpool football club, and dis is what we do"
We were discussing that on the Spurs board, Pixie. The general consensus is that Poch was having a laugh at the journo's expense, as he has done many times.
The part where he says 'It's not a joke. Winning the Champions League? It should be fantastic, no? Close the five-year chapter and go home.' kind of suggests it wasn't though.
Because you won't win the CL ? Or because you think Poch wasn't being serious ? Sounded to me that he sees this as the end of a 5 year chapter, as he said as much.
If we get past Ajax, I might think about it. Just seen the interview, it looked a bit tongue in cheek to me.
It did at the end, because the media were genuinely shocked and pressed him on it and because I think Poch likes to be ambiguous. But sounded to me like he was speaking off the cuff during the interview and meant what he said. He even said he wasn't joking about it. Strange thing to come out with just before a huge game tbh and a massive distraction that you don't really need.
Which is exactly the reaction he wanted. He’s not very keen on the hacks and I think he’s winding them up.
It was a fabulous performance ... but fat Mickey is still talking out his arse ... those Liverpool fans did not turn up 'expecting'' the 'miracle of merseyside' last night ...
Well at the end yes, he gave a little smirk but that was to try and change the meaning on the 'go home' line, because he'd probably revealed too much and realised Levy would be spitting feathers. But during the interview he very much meant what he was saying and even repeated twice that it wasn't a joke. Very odd thing to come out with right before your biggest game in over a decade.
Tbh its not surprising. They did exactly the same thing last year against roma and are one year older. They have absolutely zero pace up front so you need to be brave and defend high up the pitch. Tbf allisson played really well, saved 2 of messis shots, coutinhos 1 on 1 and suarez 1 on 1. Also have alba pass it back to messi when 4 on 1 helps. Well played the pool
How do you know? Anfield this season has been an absolute fortress. Obviously it was a long shot but if you don't believe then why bother? We're not Leicester, mate.
