If he was gonna be sacked I guess it would have happened yesterday after the game so looks like we are stuck with him for now :(

    OUT
Yesterday was the last straw that broke the camels back.
If we go down (and we will with that technically-idiotic fool at the helm)
Then we most damnably WON'T come straight back again as we did with trustworthy Chrissy H

You keep forgetting the 8 year contract insanity though. We are stuck with the pillock

Pardew has made mistakes of late and none more serious as yesterday. I don't believe we will go down but he has to stop making stupid mistakes and decisions.

We have the team to stay up: they just have to believe it.

With the return of Cabaye, Ben Arfa (not too long now), Saylor. Two or three new signings in addition to Debouchy; hopefully including Mapo Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara and a good striker. Then we should start to get the wins we need. Not forgetting the return of Tiote.

That squad is good enough to stay up.

Pardew has in the recent past proven he has the nouse and ability to motivate the team and pick the right tactics. He just has to revert back to what he did last season. Sacking him now will just perpetuate the cycle NUFC have been in years of letting managers pick and buy their team and squad and then panic and sack and start again at great expense.

Yesterday, the first half performance was quite good. On another day Cisse would have had 2 or three and we would have been out of sight. Second half was more even until Pardew lost his nerve and took Marveaux off then Reading didn't have to worry about us going forward.

Hopefully Pardew will have taken note of the crowds reaction to his negative substitutions and the affect that his negative substitutions had on the result and will not repeat those awful decisions.

I fully appreciate there are "ifs" and "buts" in my reasoning but the same applies if we sack Pardew the biggest one being based upon who might come in. Cashley is a business man and not a fan but I am sure more than ever that he will spend now as he will remember the "hit" he had to take the last time we were relegated and he won't want to miss out on the big jump in Sky money next year. Anyone coming in now would have to play with the deck of cards he has and won't be able to change players as too late in "window" for anything other than players already proposed or panic buys. Also, I am not convinced there are the managers out there at the moment who could, firstly, save us and, secondly, take us on/back to the next level.

ignoring the Mackem votes it looks roughly a 75% vote for Pardew to be OUT so far.
Have to admit that I'm starting to move towards this point of view the more I think about it.

I was torn but IN. Managers go through difficult periods and I think that often clubs who stick with them seem to see the benefit in the end (SAF, Moyes..) investment is needed big time but they need to be good value. We have to go out there and make it happen tho. I wonder if there is the appetite from above. I think they believe we will stay up with our current squad and are reluctant to recruit if it will only get us a few more places up the table and not see any financial gain come end of the season. The business model is all with them. Success is a very distant 2nd.

Can we please have a poll after he's sacked and been replaced, whenever that may be...

It might alter the opinion somewhat if we knew for definite the alternative is something horrible <yikes>

If he signs big Al, Beardo, Tino, Sir Les, Nobby, Ginola & Albert out of retirement I'd be ecstatic.

Has Ashley got the balls to be a Bill Kenwright or Martin Edwards though? Looking at his sacking of Hughton I think it more likely he'd go the sacking route now Pardew has lost a section of the support. That said he is so unpredictable you never really know what he'll do. It'll depend if he really believes Pardew is the man long term.

And if he wants to pay someone else a proper wage.

I'm still IN with Pardew at helm. We still need the stability, personally I am now starting to believe he should have the chance to either sink or save us until end of the season and then after our final game get a new man in.

    Honestly?

I like KK as boss. Second time around was a disaster because of a misunderstanding of the situation, not because of the football or anything else. We started very well under Keegan in that season and there was a sense of progression from the previous one and long-ball football. Never happened under Pardew.

There are bosses I'd prefer, but I still like KK and think under the right circumstances he'd do well again. Never going to happen under Ashley, those conditions.

Nothing has changed for me - he stays until the end of the season, if we stay up then he gets another shot at it. If we're relegated then he simply has to go. <ok>

I was still on the 'in' pile until yesterday. Now I've not quite joined the 'out' group but I've been pushed to climb onto the fence.

According to twitter rumours that started a few minutes ago Ashley may have joined the 'out' group himself... We'll see.

Sacking during the current transfer window would be disastrous, it's making the club even less attractive to prospective signings.

Unless the aforementioned Cabaye as manager situation comes true... You couldn't get a more attractive proposition!

So... stripping away the 17 Mackem votes (organised via thread on their board) the split is pretty much 2/3 saying OUT and 1/3 saying IN.

As this thread has run it's course I'll now close it.
