You have to try to forgive me, cini65. I have grown so used to Gooners coming over here to take pot-shots at me, that I've lumped you all in the same boat. If I have misjudged you, I apologise. Delusion, of any kind, irks me. I saw it with the Mousers, when they refused to accept that we had overtaken them as a footballing force in English football, and most of them still cannot accept it. The same is about to happen between our two clubs, with the long awaited North London Power-Shift, and a lot of Gooners cannot accept it. Instead of acknowledging that we, the mighty Spurs, have made a massive jump as a club, since the days of Jol, they condemn us as pretenders and upstarts, and I simply lose all patience with them.
You don't need to keep trying you know, you can just talk about football if you want...? Or are you literally just here to bait those three?
Drat! You must be one of those clever, sensible Gooners I've heard so much about! I can see already that my usual traps and trip-wires are useless against you!
HIAG, it's far too early to bring up the power shift again. If ,and it's a big if, they finish above us again then these sort of comments will be thrown back in your face!
Listen to cini65, please! Why am I such a wasted asset on this board? Is my wumming really so far in advance of the standard fare that it goes over the heads even of my own fellow supporters? I am a wum who is ahead of his time, unloved and unappreciated in his own lunchtime.
Threads like this are the reason I tend to avoid football forums. I like that our board has one place for rival bashing - Rival Watch - and don't think a thread like this is needed or really wanted here surely? Most of us want to talk Tottenham, this just adds fuel to the "come fill our threads with wum us so we cant discuss anything" fire.
Great! That's the way you like to use the forum, and this is the way I like to use it. I didn't realise that this place was a dictatorship and that we all had to bow down to what TJ wants. Why not simply accept that we're all different, and that just because there may be a thread that you don't like that no one else does? Why not try to make a little bit of room for banter in your life? Incidentally, one of the reasons I tend to avoid footballing forums is because they are packed to the gills with boring, pompous, know-it-alls, who are devoid of all humour and intent of running-down and dismissing anything that they personally do not like. The one reason that I love this forum is because it is a broad-church, prepared to put up with the out-and-out jokers (like me) as well as the dyed-in-the-wool, football-is-my-life-and-please-don't-dare-to-take-the-piss-because-my-head-might-just-explode-if-I-dare-to-laugh brigade.
PS, JT... Just because you might not like my style of thread absolutely will not deter me from creating others in similar vein.
Way to make assumptions and completely blow things out of proportion. I was only saying why not post all that stuff in Rival Watch - you know where it can actually be used to wind up rivals? I have no problem with "banter!"
I deliberately chose not to post this stuff in the Rivals thread because: (1) this is a specific subject that I believe warrants its own thread, (2) those who are interested in entering into this banter (and let's face it, it's probably going to be another 30 years before we another window like this one, where we completely and utterly trounce our greatest rival) can more readily find it, (3) the "rivals" thread appears, to me, to be a more serious consideration of what our rivals are getting up to, and I didn't want to overly adulterate that content (ironically, because I didn't want to annoy those posters who use that thread for a more serious kind of comment), and (4) I don't see this thread having much life beyond the current window, so it can be left to simply die its natural death. I did, as I generally do, give a good deal of thought before starting this thread.
What do you think your best XI will eventually be HIAG? Lloris Walker Vertonghen Kaboul Rose? Sandro Dembele Paulinho Lamela Eriksen Soldado In my honest opinion: Szeszny worse than lloris Sagna better than Walker Mertesacker even with Vertonghen Koscielny better than Kaboul Gibbs better than Rose Arteta worse than Sandro Ramsey even currently with Dembele Wilshere worse currently than Paulinho Cazorla vs Lamela? Cazorla right now for the time being but who really knows yet Walcott vs Eriksen? Probably Walcott right now but jury's out Giroud vs Soldado? I actually rate Giroud vaguely, at the moment, not enough to tell... Even.
Blimey! That's some question to ask, Cini, and could well warrant its own thread! It all depends, of course, on what system(s) AVB is planning on playing - and I think he now has the luxury to develop three or four systems, to increase our tactical acuity. At this early juncture - and I really would emphasise that we do need to see how the players bed in - this would be my favoured system:- ------------------------Lloris------------------------ Walker/Naughton---Kaboul---Vertonghen---Fryers/Rose -------------Sandro/Capoue---------Paulinho--------- --------Townsend-------Lamela---------Eriksen--------- ------------------------Soldado----------------------- With options on the bench to go 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 late on in games to exploit the pace of Lennon and Defoe.
You'll find that most Spurs fans love Lennon and the loyalty he has shown the club, and most of us (I think) still believe that he can pull off the kind of form that he showed, for example, when we beat Chavs in the league cup final, a few seasons back; but all of us are excited by the prospect that is Townsend. He was our MOTM in our 5-0 win in Gerogia, in the Europey, and he has continued to dazzle. Watch out for him this season, because he is going to come of age in this current squad.
Just to say, the rules are a bit more slack on this thread but Arsenal fans are welcome to comment and give a bit back(within reason) without people being rude. As far as I'm concerned if they try to wum on here they'll be more than likely contributing to HIAG's quotes and save him logging out and copy and pasting it from the Arsenal board. As others have said though there are reasonable Arsenal fans too, as Cini as demonstrated and I'm sure there are some quotes they could pick up on our board too(and they do pick them up). TJ, I agree to an extent and I only tend to read these regularly as I do because there's always a chance someone has taken it too seriously and started chucking abuse, which gets deleted. I find they're easy to ignore otherwise though so as long as the posts are kept to here it keeps the other threads free for more serious football talk. To paraphrase David Mitchell, this thread is like the cake at the picnic that you let the wasps go for and that way it keeps them away from the rest of the food Cini, I'd say Cazorla, Gibbs, Soldado, Lloris and Paulinho/Sandro(not both) are the ones that definitely get into eachothers sides and the rest is pretty close and comes down to personal taste, or more likely allegiances. It's too early to tell with a lot of our players, as they're so new and the same goes for Kaboul returning from a long term injury, they could turn out to be better than Arsenal's options or they could turn out to be worse, we'll see when they're more settled. The same applies to Arsenal to a degree with a young squad, they could improve but to be honest I think we know what to expect with the current players at Arsenal.
Nothing to do with helping HIAG, infact it probably suits us better not to have Arsenal fans posting as there's less problems then but we're all about fairness over here
