We top the group. And unbeaten.
Bellamy must think this management lark is easy.<laugh>
To be fair, he says he's still learning and he's made mistakes, but him recognising that will make him a better manager in the long run.

    Fantastic result.

Felt the game could easily have gone either way but our finishing was better ultimately.

Who saw Montenegro turning the Turkish over??? Can only assume Turkey went into it overconfident and thought they'd stroll to a result???

Dining at the top table of international football again, fab times...

Just got home from the game. Bloody freezing out there but Iceland made no use of the conditions they are more used to.

Not a good first 20 minutes or so but then up popped Cullen to do what we know he is good at. A proper fox in the box.

Second half much more open and they had some chances but couldn't cope with our pace.

A great win and Beller's amazing run continues. We will find it a lot tougher next time around but it will continue to add to the experience of a young manager and squad.

Strange game which could have been 5-5!

ps I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again - no wonder players have such high cap totals when eg James & Roberts come on for a few minutes at the death. Full caps should be earned not handed on a plate like that. Surely it would make more sense to list full caps and substitution appearances separately. Rant over for the time being<whistle>

I'm with you on both points.
27(16) would do it for cap numbers. Possibly with total minutes played. 27 / 16 / 1634.

    I absolutely disagree.
The modern game at club and national levels is a squad game. Those who train with the squad, make themselves available deserve recognition when they're used regardless of fir how long I'm sure it keeps a good level of extra motivation in the squad.

I accept its a squad game, which is why their contribution must be recognised. I still think half a cap for a sub appearance is recognition enough.

Don't you think it's overcomplicating things? A player gets chosen to join a squad and that in itself is surely worthy if a cap.
I think it's also worth remembering that a huge part of the reason for the increase in caps is the number of subs allowed nowadays and not all are made in the end of games
If I were going to change things, I'd issue the cap when a player is selected for the game squad. In my mind, if you're in the squad then you've achieved something and, you're contributing.

I am sure there was Martyn somebody a flanker for Wales (he had ginger hair) who was brought on literally for a nano second in a friendly international to gain his 100th cap.

Then there’s Gunter who of course was a great servant for Wales but IMO was given cheap caps off the bench late into games instead of other players just to reach the 100 cap landmark.

There we go it’s my view.

Ireland doing everything except score at present.

Good free kick from Wales saved.

And another Irish save after a corner.
