I believe they aren't far from a "Version 4.0" engine either. Probably a race after Suzuka, as they don't want to rush it through, take penalties at their home race only to have it fail.
In the speed trap the two McLarens are still behind Wehrlein with the 2016 Ferrari engine. Perhaps the chassis is just really that good.
Sadly I agree ref Williams . Paddy Lowe has said they are changing their philosophy for the car next year . I bloody hope they do . Or I fear for the team .
I wonder if Hamilton was running the new spec if he would be on pole . I doubt it . I don't think we can really judge Bottas on his qualifying pace , as they split their strategy .
They're 5th atm, but Gasly looks a better bet for points than Kvyat, and Renault have turned a big corner, I can see them dropping down to 7th before season end.
I'm hoping they have given up on this years car , they MUST get it right for next Season , but the driver line up will be crucial as well . Stroll will stay , but surely it's time for Massa to go ?
Massa was a veteran. experience considered vital in strolls first year. They can take anyone in next year now. The reality is their chassis must be woefully poor cos they only get to q3 if tracks are pure powet
Yes I agree . Think that's why Paddy Lowe has said they need to change their car design philosophy , even Rob Smedley , when asked earlier this season what he wanted from the team , he replied " give us a better car "
It would be fantastic to see Williams at the sharp end, but not only do they need a better chassis, they also need a works engine deal. Almost makes you wonder if a gamble on Honda wouldbe worth a punt. Oh... and a top driver.
I've got high hopes for this race. Vettel storming from the back, Hamilton fending off the faster bulls and Ferrari. The ever present threat of rain.
Some showers around would certainly spice this up. Red Bull have had a solid weekend and they ought to be close on race pace...if they actually make it out of the first corner! Kimi and Max into T1....hide behind your sofas!!
Sadly they'll never likely be with the top dogs as a customer. There's just not a lot of other options
Wow Hamilton's grid slot is bone dry compared to the other side. Somebody is smiling on him. It's his to lose
