What made you go with Arctic Fire Bob?

He did look like an interesting runner to me, given his previous ability, but Ruby picking the other one kind of suggested that they weren't expecting a lot from him after such a long lay off.

It's one of those that you look at after thinking how was a horse as good as that allowed to go off at 20/1 in a handicap.

I bet they are wondering what might have been if they had thrown him in the Champion Hurdle, not like they had much else in it. I think that performance was a big suprise to them though

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that someone runs a competition like this when the big meetings are on.
IMHO, this format works and is much less complicated, but I'm happy to go with the majority decision for the format for Aintree.
After an OK start, I never really got into it, but thoroughly enjoyed it.
My affliction as mentioned in the "gambling thread" was in full force, not least for Barney Dwan!

Congrats to BostonBob and well done everyone for taking part - I should remember that "in Stick we trust", and I would have had much more success.

Now the countdown can begin to Chester Ladies Day in May. :afro:

Not a chance Shergs. The yard will have backed him. Second in the county, second in the champion hurdle. Loves Cheltenham. Loves the hill. Stays every yard. Kept him ready for months with a low mark. As soon as they risked running him in a graded race they lose his rating. It's easy after the event but that was my thinking. Townend knows that horse inside out. Was he second string? Debatable.

It's one of those that looks so bloody obvious afterwards. Well done on applying the logic before the race and getting us out of the ****

Well if it was all a plot then it's probably not the first time the Mullins team have pulled it off in the county hurdle, Wicklow Brave a few years back won at a similar price with Paul Townend in the saddle .

Putting Ruby on the other seems a smart move to throw everyone else off the scent to get a big price about him. I'm sure if Ruby had been on him today he'd of been a lot shorter.

Most people have fallen for the same trick twice now <laugh>

Well how would you be? Fantastic effort by Bob, well done champ. A valued crown to carry for the next twelve months. <applause>

Nice one Stick, just what the team needed to get the job done. You were never doubted. <ok>

A big thanks to the Fatguys for the competition and a well deserved pat on the back to Vic and the team

But the biggest thanks goes to the esteemed Ron. Brilliant effort mate. Thanks, it was fun. :)
