Agree regarding Morgan which is all the more reason try have tried to to have attempted to get his replacement in early doors to give him a chance to settle. Also disagree regarding VVD, everybody has their price.

True, they do, but with much more TV money etc for CL teams in the group stages, even if Celtic don't get through, they could easily get themselves £20 million+ in prize money. So, I don't think they'd sell their best player and risk losing so much income.

I always though Man U would be back in contact with us this summer, but I also thought it would be with a bunch of flowers & a thank you card for the exceptional footballer Morgan Schneiderlin, not to piss us off again! <grr>

I see plenty of talk about the money we're making from cheap purchases and expensive sales. There seems to be a perception (not necessarily on this board but definitely elsewhere) that this is going to disappear into Katharina's pocket.

What's the likelihood that it's building up for the future? I'm inept at reading accounts, so I can't say so but has anyone on here looked knowledgeably at our clubs accounts who could answer the question?

Vin

With Staplewood completed, my reading is that we're very profitable, and the PL TV money is soon to jump again. Might turn a combined profit of 75-100m over this and the preceding two seasons.

Regarding what that money is earmarked for, no one knows. Not a popular opinion, I know, but my suspicion all along is that we're being prepped for a sale in the next couple years. It could also be a down payment on a new stadium or expansion of SMS (though the board has stated otherwise).

Re: Fran. The 13-14 books show more than just that 20m outstanding as debt to KL...I don't believe any money other than the 30ish mil in the Championship has been converted to equity.

Why pay over the odds for the sake of three league games?

Who would you have bought, how much would you have spent and what wages?

It runs much deeper than that. It would have given him time to build a rapport with Fonte and immerse himself in the squad.
Might give us a 7/8 game head start more than a 3. People pay over the odds to get players early all the time, sometimes it's a good decision as Utd are finding with Depay

We will be sold within 5yrs I agree.

Celtic wouldn't have accepted it. They did the same with Forster.

It does make me chuckle that a defeat/poor performance and a rumour seem to bring out a few doubters. Everyone seemed upbeat in the build up to the Vitesse home game.

Any if you're referring to my post above, I make it clear im not a doubter in the board but just underwhelmed by our dealings so far. The two are not mutually exclusive.

They might have done before the Summer started? Would have given them time to replace a player they knew they would be losing either way
Collins and other Celtic staff kept banging on about VVD not going until they know their CL fate. So doubt it.

But it does happen all the time. If clubs took hands off warnings literally, we'd be a title challenging outfit...

Lol I'm sure I'll be shot down for this, but that's pretty poor - everyone knew Morgan was going this summer, we should have got Clasie in early as possible, surely?
Everything was agreed before hand tho.
