Some observant wag commented that Spurs want all the white from our stripes and Liverpool want all the red.
I also return to the point I made some months ago that rival clubs (and the closer they are the more they'll do it) will actually target Saints players rather than go elsewhere in order to both improve themselves and disrupt us. A double hit. It was as plain as the nose on my face when I first suggested it and we've had plenty of evidence of it since.
I believe I said back then something along the lines of that it was a totally unscrupulous, underhand and absolutely professional way of going about things. The clubs involved ought to hang their heads in shame, but I have to admit that it's very effective. I also notice that both Ronald and Les have been getting peeved about it also, so maybe some talks will get around the boardroom table about how we can stop this little game of eeny-meeny-miney-mo.
Seriously. Let's say that we make it only as far as the group stages in Europa League, and we advance two rounds in each of the cup competitions. That's a total of 54 competitive games on the year, and it could easily top 60 with a tonne of extra travel and knocks to boot. No one's getting penciled in for all those games.
I feel we need perhaps four more players; a starting CB, backup CB, a DM and a CM. The latter two need to be good enough to start; not bench warmers as we have some good youngsters coming through but not ready yet who could be on the bench. A lot of work still to do in the transfer market and the prices are going to start to rise as the season draws nearer. Clubs will know our situation is dire at CB now that Gardos is injured too.

Come on relax, Koeman built a squad that finished 7th from virtually nothing last season. It will be fine.
They over-achieved like crazy. I'd like a little more surety this time. In fact I expect it.
Why do we need a cm and a dm? We have:
Wanyama
Reed
Prowse
Davis
Clasie
One more midfielder and we will be fine.
Beefy, its a long season; the last two seasons we fell away Christmas because, in my opinion, we did not have enough depth in the squad. With Europa League on top, l think we need more cover. I am not disputing the quality of the players you have named, but we could be playing perhaps 60 games next year.
I'm not going to disagree with you but you could define your version of 'fine'.
I want an improvement on last season.
Could l just add that if we want to retain our players and fulfill the stated ambition of the club we need to improve on last year. We failed to retain players this Summer because we fell away towards the end of the season.

we didn't retain players due to our season falling away!
the ones that went were always going - Toby included.
Toby wasn't always going nor was Clyne going by what some of the more ITK people said. Morgan was inevitable - no one can deny that but there was a chance the other two were going to stay.
