Posted this in the Clyne thread, but as we're currently on that topic here also...

Does anyone think that there's a possibility that Clyne may now go to Liverpool just to get guaranteed first team football (as well as the pay rise)? Staying here he would have a reasonable amount of pressure, and also game sharing with an International of pretty much similar standing.

God it's such a hard one, technically he can negotiate a contract with Liverpool to move on a free next summer but we could be above them. Move now and it's almost sideways, don't get me wrong the history and lure of Liverpool can bring almost anyone in but playing under Rodgers? Not for me

I would suggest that Clyne thought he would be off to Manure, who would blame him, but they haven't exactly been overly keen.
The only public interest recently has come from Scousehampton who are "only Eurpa League" level like us. Nat wanted ECL experience and it isn't happening so he is now finding himself in a difficult position especially as Saints have bought another RB.
The pressure for him to make a decision about his future is really on ...sign a new deal or persuade other clubs that he is worth £15m especially Manure

Just because the media say Manure have cooled their interest, doesn't mean they have. They still need a RB from what I can see. Maybe they're looking down the side of the couch for a few more pennies and going for a double slam with Morgan?

It won't be long and Cheshire council will be having to rename one of those leafy Cheshire streets, "Southampton Street"

Come on Jordi - I really would like him to come in!

I do think it's time we paid a lot for one of these players. If we keep selling played high and buying their replacements for a fairly inexpensive fee, people might start to confuse us with a sensibly run, sustainable business :)

Here's my feeling about Clyne. I think he will remain here for the next twelve months. Perhaps his agent has been in touch with these clubs and suggested he sees out his contract.

To do that we need a "galatico" style signing or player as those who finished in the top four have at least one (Hazard, Costa, Fabregas, Aguero, Silva, Sanchez, Ozil, Rooney, Mata, Di Maria), while those who are entering the Europa League don't have any!!

Agreed. I was thinking exactly the same. Love the business SFC are currently doing but dare I say it, we need a type marquee signing now or somewhen this window - or am I getting above my station !? :emoticon-0127-lipss

Lawrie was brilliant at getting "marquee" signings. The two that spring to my mind were Keegan and Alan Ball. Then we had Peter Shilton as well!!

Suggest a marguee signing. Muniain would be one!!! And although he is 31 or 32, the Dutch World Cup striker, not Van Persie but the other one!!
