JRod if he was as fit as before....because he is already our player. It would also be nice to have a player renew a contract (sigh). Austin as another striker...with Ings if JRod not available. However, wouldn't be surprised if Reed/Koeman brings in someone from left field.

Hard question to answer. If J rod never had the injury then him. Given that he is crocked and doesn't seem to want to sign a new contract then maybe Ings. Think Austin is more skillful but Ings seems more powerful and a better character. So Ings.

This is what will happen and maybe in addition.

Our striker purchasing strategy will be determined by what JRod is going to do...if he is a gentleman then he will either sign the contract he has been offered or maybe a one year extension to give him and the club time to see how he has recovered
If he does stay then I would go out and get Austin as direct competition for Pelle, if he goes then I would go for Ings to replace him
Having said that, Fran you are right, we may have a little known gem lined up from left field but would prefer proven goal scoring quality and British as we don't have any settling in issues

Have no idea who, or if, we will bring anyone in, but it makes you think what might have been if we had a really top notch striker in place this season?
Can anyone see Pelle or Long delivering 20 -25 goals a season?

I think we will be very fortunate to have a striker who can deliver 20-25 goals a season. Spuds unearthed one this season, but they are very few and far between and they are of such a premium/rarity that they go to the top, top clubs for the big, big bucks.

I would be pleased with a 15 goal a season man. We have one who is injured and we had one who we sold to Liverpool as he was nearing the end of his time. If this season we had had a 15 goal and two 10 goal a season players, we'd have been laughing.... wait, I am laughing; we are 7th in the league and still in with a shout of finishing 5th :)

Happy Days!

Had we converted three of our 0-1 losses to wins, we'd be about a point behind Arsenal in third. Semi-frustrating. But many teams can say the same, I guess. Including Arsenal, who could be top had they had a better start.

Imagine if we could somehow land Nani. My mouth waters from the sheer thought of it.

Really? I wouldn't be excited by him at all. I find him an egotistical monster with little final product. Admittedly I haven't seen much of him since he has gone out on loan from United, but I can't help but think "Big time Trick Pony". Give me Mane any day over him.

Season 10/11 he scored 9 goals and added 14 assists, and the following season he scored 8 and assisted 10 goals in the league only. After that his form fizzles out and is frequently injured, but i genuinely think he's a top winger who changes the outcome of matches and would fit particularly well in our 4-3-3 formation.

Good stats for those two seasons. I just have never warmed to him.

Didn't Moyes give him a massive wage on a 5 year contract?
