David Luiz would still hold the prize for most over priced CB in history nevertheless.

Ramos isn't that much better tbh. I can't see him being any good in the Prem.

I wouldn't say Ramos is world class tbh. He makes far too many mistakes and will make more in the Prem.

Ramos is very average and is liable to picking up stupid cards as well.

Yep he is clumsy as hell. Then loses his temper and does stupid ****. He won't get the protection he does in Spain here.

Really? We will have to agree to disagree tbh, can't think of many/any CBs I think are better than Ramos. Varane will be if he continues his level of improvement.

But then I think David Luiz is the perfect type of centre back for teams like PSG so can see why they paid the money for him so I think my opinions aren't commonly shared :D

Tbh I don't really think there are that many if any world class cb's around atm. Chiellini is great but I don't know if I would count him as world class. I can't actually think of one tbh haha.

Bigger the stage you play on, more scrutinized your mistakes are. And there's no bigger stage than Bernabeu.

    Ramos....

Seriously though he might make the odd mistake but it doesn't really matter when playing for the top teams and all centre backs do, on his day he is brilliant, is comfortable on the ball and has a great goal scoring record for a centre back. I agree about his disciplinary record though.

Chiellini, Thiago Silva, Pique, Kompany, Hummels, Terry and Toby all better IMO.

Only one in your list I'd put in the same league is Chiellini, maybe Hummels, but would still prefer Ramos over both. How come you have Toby in there but not Godin or Miranda?

Damn. Osvaldo made Kompany look like ****e. :D

In my opinion, today only Thiago Silva is the world class CB who can compare to the likes of Maldini, Nesta ecc. Terry was also one, not anymore tough. The rest are bellow that level.

Terry was never a world class CB. If anything he's improved at a latter age. I always felt he was too easily dragged out of position for the first two thirds of his career against top teams. As he got older that was harder so he had to stop and therefore improved his game.

Like other positions centre back has evolved in recent years. The top teams seem to prefer a decent defender who is good on the ball than a good defender who is crap on the ball

That and I have very few players I would call world class.

I think Kompany was close to being world class but injuries have stopped him getting there.
