Squad for U21s today vs Man City : Archer; Alex McQueen, Kevin Stewart, Ball, Fryers; Falque, Sandro, Carroll, Townsend; Bentaleb; Kane. Miles, Coulthirst, Gallifuoco, Dombaxe. I reckon the lineup has been chosen with a view to making sure that Sandro + as many of the kids as possible, get some match time in their legs prior to being called up to the squad for the Europa game.
Not seeing McEvoy feature much recently (or is he below this level?). Looked a prospect last season - and no I don't mean by that he looked like Bale!
Sandro, Carroll, Falque and Townsend as a midfield?! That's pretty intimidating for most Premier League sides! Not sure about Bentaleb playing behind Kane up top, though. 1-0 after 3 minutes. Carroll.
Might be, but that's not the way it's written down. Would make a lot more sense, though. Townsend, Kane and Falque as a front 3. 2-0. Kane. 35 gone.
Falque with the third. It's an area that we're already overloaded in and we're still being linked with more signings in that role, but why has nobody come in for him? Surely we could offload him to someone on the cheap with a substantial sell-on clause, at least?
I thought Falque was hard done by last year. Could have been a sub or got the odd game or so, but obviously someone didn't think he was ready. Much better to hang on to him, give him some game time and get a better price imo.
I like Falque but I prefer Townsend and he's younger and homegrown. We also have Lennon there and either Bale or some random replacement (Willian, Lamela?) seems likely, too. Good player, but we just don't have the space in the squad for him, unfortunately. Maybe Redknapp would like to borrow him? Certainly good enough to shine at that level.
Yeh fair enough. Perhaps i've become a bit sentimental with some of the players we have. But we signed him from Juve (I think?) and I really wanted it to work for him to show players from other big clubs we would be a good move. Look at Gio for instance. Obviously I would rather Willian though. How is Sandro looking today, match fit? and Kane, i'm guilty of questioning whether he will be good enough for the first team?
