Are you a real ale drinker stopme? My dad remembers when keg beer arrived to replace the old barrels of rank, stagnant and polluted ale with stuff floating in it. He can’t quite believe the boom in old fashioned ale that is prone to going off, and requires a far greater level of care than most landlords have the time or inclination to give. My grandad used to hold every pint to the light to see if it was clear - if it wasn’t he’d send it back.
I certainly am, have one of these on the go: please log in to view this image Nothing rank about it nor is anything floating in it. Agree it is harder to keep ale but some landlords manage fine. I don't tend to go twice to places where the ale tastes a bit off. Do you drink lager? I'd only touch it if that's all there was.
