re Kane, are you old enough to remember Malcolm Macdonald coming to BP 70/71 time? - he absolutely beasted Terry Neill, the power and pace on such a youngster was something to behold, it was possibly the best centre forward display I've ever seen.
I'd add john Terry. Maybe cos I was in North stand. League cup game I think. He just marshaled the full team. Just felt h covered everything and was aware of everything. Superb. Still a **** but a great player.
I could have 'beasted' Terry Neill by the time he played for City. He was the worst player in that 70/71 team. If we are talking best ever forwards seen playing against us I would pick a blast from the past, Mick Harford playing for Lincoln against us in the League Cup over two legs late 70's. He was unplayable and scored about five goals against us. Lincoln beat us about 7-1 over the two legs. You could see he was destined for bigger things and I can remember the 'half way liners' in the Well at BP screaming at our Board of Directors to sign him. Another one was David Nugent playing for PNE against us at the KC. He was on fire for 30 minutes then got injured and replaced. The game changed on that and we went onto beat them. Another one was Ryan Williams playing for Chesterfield against us home and away. Probably the best two performances of his life. Franny Lee was a player too for Bolton in the late 60's, put three past us one night in a 6-1 drubbing, likewise John Toshack for Cardiff and Mike Summerbee made an impression on me playing for Manchester City v City in the FA Cup during the 70's. Also someone of a similar sounding name playing for Brum at that time, he used to score for fun against us.
Ronaldo is the best player I've ever seen at a ground as well although he was playing for Real vs Lyon
