If you read up on what Mitchell has always been about, it's about creating the best environment for kids from within to get to the first team - we are never going to do what Chelsea, Man U, do. That, and adding one or two first team ready players every window.

The shortfall is lack of plan b - which you could argue is also the problem with our first team football. If we'd gotten Guehi and Olise, we'd have beaten Brighton, Everton and maybe even City. And then you have to look around at the other possible options; Todibo, Disasi, De Ligt have all been fairly poor in defence, Chiesa is permanently injured (no surprise). So transfers just aren't easy. The only thing I really don't like is we should've shipped Almiron, Wilson and Trips when the chance presented itself, and it's really clear we should never have bought Barnes. That would've allowed us to keep Minteh and possibly Anderson.

But we'll learn.

 

1st team was the area you've struggled in... and discovery also when you list Gordon and Hall.

If the others break into the 1st team that's a find! All clubs sign youth players but they don't all make it.

Minteh would have been the only one so far and Osula might be the second.
