I don't know why everyone gets such a hard on for transfer windows when the sides winning.

Newcastle can wait for the right players.

Because we have glaring deficiencies. We'll then go through a couple of games where we're either **** or losing or both and then we get a certain demographic making noises about Howe out.

If Howe is not going to promote and use McArthur as a back up centre back or look to the youth squad for a back up right winger then I would say we need to sign someone.

Not my point... they seem to say 'just' get this player or we could have 'just' done this or that. The fact is Newcastle don't have to just do anything... they can wait for the right catch.

A good thing is worth waiting for.

Yes but sadly we don't always have the time. What have our scouting team being doing for last 2 years if they haven't identified a list of top 5 right wingers or centre backs?

Thus window is a 4 week window which is dead for most clubs. They'll probably trim the fat and maybe get a keeper.

They'll have the courage to see out what they set out with and believed in, while building the kitty for the summer.

Newcastle are going to push again in the summer without a shadow of doubt.

Not by me it wasn't because you can't clear 2 years of overspending without selling your best players or waiting it out.

They'll buy the right players if they are available and at the price they value them, otherwise they'll wait rather than settling

Settling won't win the club trophies.

They're winning games and in the summer they'll have created some wiggle room.

They don't want to have to settle for players they want to kick on.

Who is settling for players? We've got a scouting network now.

They have targets and if they can't get the one's they want they won't sign them. It's really very simple in that regard.

If you are buying something you can settle for something which will impact you for years or you can wait a few months until you get the player you really want...I'm a saver btw so maybe I'm just that way inclined naturally.

There's no immediate rush anyway at the moment.

If we sell miggy then we need at least a back up right winger. EH does not trust the youth players. In fact he doesn't even trust the players he's signed.

They'll probably use Barnes or Willock if needed until the summer. I'm sure if they can land who they want this month they will do it, but otherwise I'd rather wait than sign the wrong player.

As we have a scouting network we won't be signing the wrong player

Yes but they need to be signing now as we are very light in quality in several positions. Not only are we light in those two areas we have zero options as back up to them

They can't necessarily sign them now for any number of reasons. This is what I'm getting at... it then becomes a matter of waiting or settling for 2nd, 3rd or even 4th best and if you do that consistently you'll never be first.

    Agree with CC.

If we can’t get first choice in a position on terms we are happy with but could in the summer, then wait. If you can’t then look at second choice.

However we need players in this window. No one, apart from CC, has mentioned not signing first choice players. If we sell miggy then we have Murphy as stated y and no back up. We need a right centre back, either a first team starter to replace Schar or a back up player.

Just a reminder that Dele Alli was a first choice pick as was Donny (ex man United player).

Pedro and Etikitie were both sought after first before we landed Isak.

Second and third choice on our scouts list is not the same as 541st choice on Mike Ashley's list
