Arsenal have made Newcastle and Sweden striker Alexander Isak, 25, their top attacking target, while the Magpies will consider Everton and England's Dominic Calvert-Lewin, 27, and Lille and Canada's Jonathan David, 24, as replacements. (TeamTalk)

Lolz, yep give Isak to Arsenal and replace him with the player who's scored less goals in the last 4 years combined than Isak did last season.

A story Today that Newcastle will replace Isak with Calvert Lewin or Jonathan David if Arsenal buy Isak.

This idea Arsenal can just buy Isak like he's a tin of beans on a shelf is annoying... he's got until 2028 here.

Free agents are just another advantage the big clubs have. Anyone noteworthy will be snapped up by a big club either here, Europe or maybe even Saudi.

David is a non starter for Newcastle for example.

 

True but then there are some there who are possible. Someone like Gasiorowski - 19y/o cb playing at Valencia and getting regular-ish game time, was being linked to Inter and Real in the summer but not playing much so could steal a march on teams like that if they've lost interest. Only problem is it would be another left footed CB...

 

Well, as they say in the ice cream world, if the flake fits.

 

If the player is good enough then one of the big clubs is likely to take them on a free.. I suppose if about 10 of the biggest clubs don't fancy them Newcastle could perhaps get them and those clubs can potentially all have missed one, but I feel that's unlikely.
