The Away End will be a man down on Saturday. And so will the Home End.

The Global Moderator - the man who has posted over 62,000 times about Charlton on ITTV, but only attended 4 of our games during the same period, will not now be attending the match.

He’s away on his holidays, meaning we will not be treated to the sight of the Geoff Capes-lookalike sprinting between ends, depending on who is winning.

On a serious note, Charlie Methven must be gutted.

He’s just boasted to the Investors that he’s got 6,000 fake Charlton supporters into the Valley on Saturday, only to find the figure has already dropped to 5,999.

That is exactly what it is. Surely it is possible to actually state how many people came through the turnstiles. That will be a true reflection of how many people are in the ground.

A well known retired Fanzine Flogger is somehow always able to post how many “bums on seats” …and the figure is consistently 3,000-4,000 less than the one the club gives out.

It’s an EFL rule that you have to count ST holders whether they attend or not, but you’ve only got to look at the vast expanses of empty seats v Stockport to know that the Valley was nowhere near half full as reported.

That would suggest that a number of Season ticket holders are not attending for whatever reason.
 
Personally I'm not interested in the usual excuses such as 'everybody does it' and the non-reasons why real bums on seats cannot be counted.
They must be able to count the real attendance - the Fire brigade would want to know it should there be an emergency.
So the Club simply chooses not to be honest with fans.

Granted it's been going on for decades I expect.
But again that's no valid reason why it should just continue.
"It's always been done that way" is the dumbest of cop-out excuses.

Be honest with fans!
If they lie and obfuscate about this, why should fans believe anything they claim?
They take us for fools.

We haven't been doing that for many years. It predates Methven and is extremely annoying. Back in the day the figure was understated because it didn't include the ones who arrive 5 minutes late and gave the turnstile bloke a drink. <whistle>

Just looking at the Wrexham match thread on our sister forum ITTV, and it is painfully obvious who Global wants to win on Saturday <laugh>

If Wrexham win …stand by for loads of “big club, sleeping giant, massive potential, will piss the league” posts …while pretending he is “gutted” that “we” have lost :emoticon-0148-yes:

At one game Charlton were so bad that fans were climbing the wall to get out with 20 minutes to go as the gates were still shut. I used to stand in the SE quadrant.
The police were still outside to stop fans climbing in!

Never understood how people swap allegiance to different teams , are they swayed by results or taken in by publicity stunts <whistle>
