All gone. Experiment finished. Balances: Betting bank: £0 Piggy Bank: £20,203 Final Result: £10,203* profit. *This assumes that Sea Moon fails to win the Arc de Triomphe. Should he win then there will be another £700 to add to the Piggy Bank.
Ron it's been very interesting following this and I must say it is a fantastic effort to finish with so much profit One question - i'm sure most of us will agree that the key to successful betting is discipline. Do you think you would have made the same decisions if there was real money involved here? I know I never could - I'm one of the most ill-disciplined gamblers in the history of the world, which is why I'm staying away from it
I think there were some times where I would have been a little more disciplined with real money, especially towards the end where I felt I was just trying to get to the finish and it didn't really matter, having already secured a decent profit. Most of the time though I tried to treat it as though it was real money. I can safely say that there were no additional bets I would have made had it been real money. It's strange but where I was able to watch the races on TV my emotions were as if it was real money; even when the last £30 went down I was pissed off when I could see it had no chance. please log in to view this image
I believe that the prolonged soft/heavy ground conditions were a major help as it provided soft ground specialists ample time to train on a surface they enjoyed, giving them an even bigger advantage on the track. Great Heavens was my most confident bets; a rapidly improving 3yo who relished the ground conditions. She alone contributed £2,600 to the profit. If she goes to the Arc I will no doubt have a "sentimental" bet on her.
