Looks like £10.81 an hour or just under £22500 a year on a 40 hour week. Do businesses pay that in Oz as a living wage though ?

as long as they are not kids etc working at maccas i believe it is. living wage i do not know what you mean by that, if you are on the min thats you as far i as i aware. obviously kids are on on way less for working part time at fast food outlets. i will see what the dole pays over here. will get back to you

Funny how this excuse for a government only uses a recommendation off someone when it suits them to do so. £ 6.31 minimum wage in the 21st century an absolute disgrace. And lets face it there are many many employers who don't even pay £6.31 , All politicians of all parties should hang their heads in shame.

thats one thing that should change dragon, we pay people a pittance, the minimum wage is such that you cant survive off one, let alone raise a family off it, instead the businesses pay crap money then the government tops it up with various benefits to get it to a liveable level.
why not make the minimum wage a wage level that you can live a basic life? whos side is the government on, the people or the big businesses???
i see what you mean now, business doesnt care about living wage, if they can pay the minimum they will. ie i am only on $23 odd an hour but am fortunate to have at least 10 hours overtime a week so with meal money it isnt too bad (ends up being around 65-70K a year), ppl on the minimum would struggle depending on ones lifestyle i assume

The energy companies got privatized, how do the workers there feel?? His living standards improved, his health and his quality of life.
