Now, I know that you'll all shout me down and warn me about 'counting my chickens' and all that but surely you can all feel that buzz, that spark, that excitement that I'm feeling right now about our beloved club? A feeling I've not felt for a very, very, very long time and it feels f*****g amazing and I'm relishing every single moment of it!!! COYB!!!
It’s so nice to be able to be optimistic about the club it’s been **** for far to long on and off the pitch.
Of course I can! This is even more exciting than when Burley took over; he was a punt (v little experience or track record in mgt), we were in free fall from the PL. it was a case of going backwards to then go forwards. now the only way is up! we have some ambitious big timers owning our club, an exceptional CEO, a super star supporter on the club shirt and money going in to every aspect of the club. It’s amazing abs feels all the better for so many years of slow decline. for all my criticism of ME as an owner I will say this; he sold us to a good bunch and that deserves credit and acknowledgment. There’s some seriously crap owners out there (Bury, Blackpool Bolton etc) but he handed over to a good bunch and we can rebuild now. one thing to bear in mind; at some point the piper needs to be paid. Let’s keep an eye on what they want out of the club if/when we become profitable because so far we’re taking their money and we’re buying into the whole project and playing our part but at some point they’ll need some payback. It’s how these things work but provided they do it sustainably we should all be able to remain friends…
For the first time in years I’ve hope about the overall direction the Club’s headed, but then we had plumbed the absolute depths under Evans.
Have to admit that even though I can’t get to midweek games (or rather home from them) I have bought I season ticket this year. I know it’s the hope that kills you but this is the most I’ve looked forward to a season in a long time
I admire all the optimism but I don’t share it. Not because of what we will do and will do well but because only two sides will go up automatically and we have got plenty of very capable competition that has got a head start on us.
Has anyone above said they expect us to be in the top two come the end of the Season? My own positivity comes from the feeling I have that we’ll at least start playing better football as a coordinated team and be competitive in more games than we have for a considerable number of years. As always it’s managing expectations!
Indeed they haven’t. We don’t know how the new owners will react to whatever circumstances we are faced with if we remain in League One (or worse). Evans started out with significant investment and when it didn’t yield quick success he effectively pulled the plug. I hope we will run away with it this season largely because I think the owners are expecting a rapid promotion and I’m not sure if there’s a Plan B.
If we can start well away days are going to be amazing again, there nothing quite like being in the full Town end for noise, humour, and passion for our Club, even being in the backside of the Country in the middle of January cant put a dampener on it.
