He was excellent for Villa the year before we bought him but sometimes players just don't fit. Fair to say he's one of them.

Joe Cole's career finished in the summer of 2010. I thought at the time he deserved to make the English world cup squad, as he was one of the most talented midfielders England had, and could unlock defences. He's currently not fit, and looks disinterested. He needs to go for his own sake more than anything. Downing is just a disappointment. He's worse than Albert Riera, and at least we got one good season out of Riera and he only cost £6 million.
