Fully agree, but his contract is nearly up. As is with Walcott, who I think we will also try to sign. Huntelaar has not played in England, may see it as a good move. I am hopefully optimistic with this though.
Fair enough, I just think when you look at the start of their season in the Bundesliga along with the probability they will still be in the champions league in January ( top of the group ) then you have to say he probably won't be going anywhere until the summer at least.
Wow...a response Firstly I've criticised Suarez (constructively) since he joined because he simply should score more. Convince me otherwise. Convince me why we're all wrong and you're right. I go the game regularly and always try to encourage players as 90% of fans around me do. Its not our fault his performances have been bollox is it? As for no-one criticising BR, see some of the other posts quite willing to criticise individual decisions he's made. However that doesn't mean I don't support him. I didn't expect him to coe straight in and be a miracle worker. Unlike some (you) I'm willing to support him and give him time to get things right just as I do with every player who wears the Red shirt. There is a difference etween criticising people and willing them to fail. We'd all be happy if Downing turned into a useful squad member. Will you be happy if Rodgers turns into a useful manager?

Pablo Hernandez and Michu combined cost what 8 million pounds? Downing, Henderson, Carroll, Adam cost closer to 70 million pounds. I try hard, I really do to not look at that but two players played last night that cost more than that entire swansea team. We lack good depth and lack good quality. If you spend that kind of money it has to be bang on qualilty. I like Hendo out of those 3 and think he could make it but we spent 16-20 million on a CM, wait, RM, wait, RB on ****ing what? We aren;t even sure of his damn position!! If anything this game really showed those weaknesses in our squad, in our style, and just how bad we need more reinforcements up front. I would love Damiao, Negredo, Llorente but just feel we will end up with Bent.
One of the best players I've ever seen at Goodison, a proper pro & really nice bloke to boot. You've had worse mate, but not at that sort of cash outlay, I dread to think what you'd return on them if you looked to recoup some dosh.
Another thing that eats at me with the figures is when we talk about lack of quality and lack of squad depth, that is our ****ing fault. We had the funds from the Torres sell and the funds from FSG wanting to come in and impress but we pissed it away. Again, look at newcastle who used that Carroll money to buy what they needed Ba, Cisse, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Santon, Tiote. They added depth and class and it was no wonder they finsihed above us and are now serious contenders for that third spot. These mistakes have been happening for awhile and just hope that these new City scouts can find us the right deals and the right players so that we can have a 2nd string that can compete with others and still push our 1st team players to the max.
Oh I don't know, when you add up his wages £20 million on Joe Cole sounds like we should have just bought a gambling & hookers weekend in Vegas for the fans.....even if you reduce that slightly when he was on loan £15 million to drive into work and then drive out again....

Yeah it was, Howard asked him to play in a different role for us, more of an out & out striker, than a No. 10 & he just adapted his game, the man was class. I doubt even West Ham would take Cole now mate, he's finished. Downing's an odd one, he's not as bad as he's appeared to be in a red shirt, you watch him leave for buttons & suddenly become a useful player again.
