First off, none of them said they didn't watch west ham games. Secondly that point means you have no more of a justified opinion than anyone else and as such can not accuse anyone of bias, and thirdly they probably watch more "highlights" than you do anyway.

Also its widely accepted that hammers play hoof ball even by their own fans.

I am a bit concerned for some of you boys. It seems that some of you spend far too much time on here and reply to my posts within minuites no matter what tiome of day?

I know I am am fascinating and Wrst Ham are your favourite topic but come on boys - look out the window! There is a big world out there away from your laptop screen!

We are West Ham - the biggest and BEST team in this league. We will overcome this dip and we will win this league.

Do find it amusing how this life beyond the laptop screen is easier for you to find when West Ham aren't performing...

Lol. Should read we were once big, we were once famous then Redknapp arrived and bankrupted us like all the other clubs he managed :)

I have a soft spot for West Ham as a club because my Mum is a West Ham supporter and used to peer over the fence with glazed eyes watching Bobby Moore and Hurst et al training on a field next to her school. Now that was a good side. However whilst I have a soft spot for the club I have nothing but disdain for a large proportion of their fanbase who seem to have missed the past 50 years and still think it's the 1960's!!!

West Ham may well win the league but Allardyce in charge in the Prem will only lead to ruin or acceptance of survival tactics rather than progression.

Whilst Saints may well also have to scrap to stay in the PL if they do go up they have more chance of actually staying up with Adkins as he can help the team progress, stay confident and relaxed and also with Cortese in charge of the club we have the best chairman in the league. Add to that West Ham think they are 'the academy'?

You better be watching out over the next 5 years because Saints aren't going to need to spend Allardyce money. We have the next England team progressing through the ranks and should we be able to stay in the PL for 4-5 years we will have a golden generation ready to hopefully push us on even further. So while all the other clubs in contention are busy trying to blag and conceal their overspending to stay within the confines of the upcoming UEFA rules Saints will be well within them.

I can foresee a time in the very near future where Real, Barca, Manure, Man Citeh, Chelski et al will be unable to qualify for Europe with their debts. Platini is not going to let fake stadium rebadging with pretend money be classed as income and the middling teams in the Prem will then be in line for European qualification.

Are West Ham in that boat? Errrm only if they manage to lease a massive stadium, fill it every week and sell Upton Park to housing development. Even then it will take 10 years to remove the huge debts. Owners putting money into the club does not come within the financial fair play rules. It has to be real income not 'investments'.

As for the blip? A Leeds fan chimed in on this board pretty early in the season. I think in October or November saying that Saints would have a really bad run and be overtaken. Most of us agreed we would have a bad run. You expect us to have a bad run? Seems you have been watching the results with the same blinkered vision that makes you think you play pretty football. Along similar lines to Gus Poyet who seems to think Brighton play pretty football!!! Like Poyet maybe if you say it often enough you will believe it to be true.

As for not watching the results, that Leeds fan was right. However that blip has already happened, Saints were overhauled, That blip was longer than many Saints fans would have imagined yet we were still only just behind yourselves and ahead of the chasing pack at the end of that 2 month run!!! And now with the blip over..............We are top again!!!

Will we stay there till the end of the season? Will we even get second? Who knows but we will go through the season with much more respect for other teams in this divsion than the arrogant West Ham fans who were saying after the St Marys game:

If we can't beat a team like Southampton we are never going to get promoted'

This was at a time when Saints were top, on superb form and several points ahead of anyone, yet the WH boards still said.

Saints were in L1 last year, WH should be miles ahead of them and wiping the floor with them.

Maybe WH should have been wiping the floor with Saints however maybe that arrogance of the fans was emulated by the 'big time charlies' on the pitch thinking they were going to walk over all these 'inferior' teams.

So just remember. We hope to win this league. We do not feel we have a god given right nor do we feel it is a dead cert however it is a realistic possibility and we are pretty realistic about that possibility. The WH fans have no such realism that something could go wrong, They think they deserve to win because 'they are a big club'.

I guess they are a big club because all the big clubs are 100s of millions in debt so they fit the bill nicely. And before you tell us about our administration and say that us calling WH heavily in debt is a case of Pot kettle black. We were only in admin because of a 3m overdraft being withdrawn!!! Nowhere near the 120m scale. Thankfully we only had Twitchy for a short spell so he couldn't weave as much of his 'transfer magic' with us as he did for yourselves and Pompey where he had a full on spell of buying 8 squads hoping that he might find 1 decent squad out of all the trash whilst leaving swathes of overpaid players in the reserves and the reserve reserves and the waiting list to play for the reserve reserves.

Personally I hope Reading go up with Saints. Saints for obvious reasons but Reading because they are a club with realism, their fans respect other teams and their manager is not a big time charlie talking about modern methods whilst playing 70's hoofball. They are an honest side from the players, to the manager through to the fans.

However as long as Saints go up then we will settle for whoever else goes up. If we don't make it we will be disappointed but after drowning our sorrows will come back and talk about how well we did to come so close the first year after coming up from L1.

I personally think that the Leeds game could be a season breaker for WH. If Leeds take those points and if Saints win meaning WH fall behind by 6 points the players morale may start to drop a little after the hard work done to catch us up. Especially if Reading also win and overtake you for second!!!

If I were you I would just take a chill pill and will your team on rather than spouting about 'how big' your club is. Statements like 'we are a big club' are pretty laughable if you are not in the Prem winning things or at least challenging for Europe. Using Big implies you think you are one of the biggest. If you said we are a 'bigger club' that may be more realistic as then you are not suggesting you are one of the biggest.

Add to that size doesn't matter at all. There are a fair few 'smaller' clubs in the PL and they are there because they earnt the right to be there. History means not a lot in Sport unless you are talking about nostalgia. Ask Forest Fans, Ask Oxford Utd Fans, Ask Notts County Fans. Ask Swindon Fans. All have a high proportion who remember going to watch their side in the top flight. Doesn't matter a jot though, they are where they are and they work hard to get back to where they were.

West Ham fans would do well to follow such an example and not think they are some major force in English Football based on where they were 50 years ago. Much as a much small proportion of Saints fans should try and remember where we are and not keep warbling on about the decades of unbroken top flight football we had (when I might add WH were a yo-yo team themselves.)

Concentrate on the present, remember the past but don't ever think the past means anything more than good or bad memories, and at the end of the season (or earlier possibly) you will be welcomed back onto this board and either congratulated on your success or sympathised with for missing out. Either way neither Saints nor West Ham 'deserve' to go up unless they finish in those top 2 spots come the end of the season. Where we both are now means diddly squat if we don't finish the last 2 months well because others will then catch and overtake us and we will then have to compete with each other hoping to get to Wembley.

Good Luck to you and hear from you in May ;)

Hi, I'm a long time lurker on this site - read all the posts every day and have never been tempted to add my blatherings to a topic but.....

ImpsSaint - that was the best reply I've ever seen, I think the topic now needs to be closed as no West Ham fan can come back from that, you've covered every angle, taken my every thought and wiped the floor with them in one go!

    impsaint.

Thankyou for taking the time to put together a well constructed and sensible post in reply to my drunken ramblings of last night.

Now I have returned to a clear state of mind I would just like to add a response if i may.

First of all, Redknapp had nothing to do with our financial problems. Our finances took a massive hit with the icelandic crisis but we have now been stabilized and we will be just fine in the long term thankyou. The debt is getting smaller by the month and we have the right people in charge with the clubs best interests at heart.

So why would we be unable to progress with Allardyce in charge exactly? Do you mean in the same way Bolton didn't progress? (despite finishing 8th in the prem and qualifying for the Uefa cup). This is all probably irrelevant anyway as there is a general theory that Allardyce is a fairly short term appointment with the aim of promotion in year one and survival in year 2 before he departs.

His brand of football isn't for everyone. Yes we resort to long ball when needed but so do most teams in this league including yourselves.

Your youth set up is impressive. Some great players have come through your ranks in recent years. Where are they all now though? - Oh thats right, at Spurs and Arsenal. Just the same as our golden generation of ten years ago. The giant clubs will always come in and cherry pick the best players and will continue to do so with players from your academy and ours.

We also have some very bright prospects coming through. Rob Hall, Elliot Lee, Cristian Montano, Danny Potts etc are said by Tony Carr to be as good as as anything he's seen in the academy. So don't be so sure that we will have to massively overspend, because, like yourselves we have plenty of quality youth players close to stepping up to the first team for a few years before there inevitable big money moves to the glamour clubs.

Thankyou for bringing up SIR Bobby Moore. England's only ever world cup winning captain. It is great men like him, Geoff Hurst and Trevor Brooking that give this club the proud traditions upon which it is built and why we are and always will be regarded as bigger than the Reading's, Wigan's and Boro's of this world . We have under achieved in recent years. So have you. So have Leeds. So have Forest. it doesn't mean that we are all suddenly not big clubs anymore.

You can say all you like that it doesn't matter how big a club is as long as it is doing well. I disagree. I would be ashamed to be in the premier league and to be taking only 2 or 3 hundred fans to away games.

We have the biggest home and away following in this league. In fact we have the tenth biggest following in England in any league. We have a massive fan base which is probably the main thing the size of clubs is measured on. That, in spite of the turmoil we have had to endure for the last 5-6 years. I personally see that loyalty as something to be proud of.

I still think we will win this league. Our home form has been poor all season. These last two results are nothing new. Luckily we have the best away record in the division to make up for this.

You have already had a dip in form. You will have another one in my opinion. We have had 2 poor home results this week but we are unbeaten in 7 and going well away. I predict a good run of results in April putting us comfortably top. Call it arrogance if you wish. I believe in my team and i believe we will win this league. The fact we are the biggest club in the division has nothing to do with this confidence. The fact we have the best squad does.

I will continue to tell you all how big and how good we are. I am proud to support West ham United and some of the childish, ill-informed things you lot spout on here about us warrants a response at times.

So excuse me if I don't "take a chill pill".

    COYI.

Yeah, maybe it's just you and that hangover, BP. ;)

I thought ImpSaints's post was a good read, that had clearly been considered and thought over, with some very good points being made too. After 10 sentences, I felt I owed ImpSaint my attention, as he had given so much of his.

Is Middlesbrough 0 Leeds Utd 2 suitable for this thread..? Well done Leeds. Let's have a bit more of that [he said from the comfort of gathering 6 points from them]. ;)
