Whilst they do have alot of fire power in Messi, Higuain, Aguero and Tevez. You can only play one of those in a 433. No good having all those world class players in 1 position. The starting 11 of both sides isn't much different to me. The Portuguese can't be as bad as your making out as they always seem to do well in major tournaments, been to a few semi finals and a final of major tournaments in the last 10 years
Like I said, Argentina are much better on paper but their stars never seem to shine very often, they grind out results rather than dominating teams (by the way, Messi, Higuain and Aguero all started in a qualifier against Uruguay not long ago so they don't just pick one), Portugal don't always play great as a team but manage to win a lot of games with a moment of magic, usually from Ronaldo.
