I'm sorry to hear that you're having to battle this horrible condition which is far more common than most people understand. Been there, some days still there but those days are nowhere near as bad as they once were.

Have you read this book? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Depressive-Illness-Strong-Overcoming-Problems/dp/1847092357

I think everyone should read it, whether they have depression or not. You can get through the book in a few hours, it's incredibly enlightening. Everyone read it!

By the way, you're a long way into winning as you've accepted it and are dealing with it.

Anyone who tells you to pull yourself together, suck it up, deal with it or that there are people worse off than you...smack them and tell them that Sir Stan said they deserved it.

JB depression is all around us most people know someone very close to them who suffers from this illness even if they don't realise the person they know is going through this . Hopefully you will get the help you need as the quality of the treatment can make all the difference .
my "personal" experience was the community physchiatric nurse who was assigned to my wife and he was brill - in fact he carried on visiting her well after he could have discharged her <hug>
hopefully you get the same empathy and helpful (if at times blunt) advice as he gave her.

Wishing you all the best JB. Stay strong and talk to your friends and family (and avoid watching Liverpool) and you'll be fine.

Trust me, for depression it most certainly isn't the best medicine. In fact in my experience completely the opposite mate

Like Stan says the first step is accepting you have it, we didn't know what was going on to start with when Mrs luv first started getting symptoms. It was a long road back to normality but we're ok the kids are ok and everything is fine. I think the people who don't accept it have the most difficulty, people who try to fight the fact that they may need medication and that they may need that medication for the rest of their lives, it doesn't matter it's just a pill that helps you live a normal lie.

It'll come as no surprise that I was no rock @jenners04

I didn't get it to start with and tried being harsh, "get a grip", " why are you in bed at 2 in the afternoon? " I did it all wrong as I didn't understand but with time and a bit of education and understanding I got to grips with it, not that it was about me but this just explains my part in understanding the whole thing. People who get hit by this are brave, strong people, intelligent people who doubt themselves. Mrs luv may have depression but she's still the glue that binds this family.

We all deal with things differently mate. I was at work years ago and had 3 deaths close to me from family members to mates and I went AWOL from work for a week. They was concerned about me and asking around. But not sure if that was just because I was damn good at my job and only one who could do my job lol. Like to think I was important <laugh>

I couldn't handle going to funerals and it fecked me up, but I have lived my life round all sorts of **** and can relate to most of it. Never had experience with depression though. Had a step brother who lost the plot and started hugging trees lol. He's OK nowadays.

You as a family become stronger though through the bad times and I'm sure your Mrs understands.

You sound just like me in how I would have reacted. Don't beat yourself up about it. Learn from it and move on is all we can do.

Sounds like from when you post family life is good, so just build on the good things and the rest sorts itself out.

That's about the most depressing thing for me <laugh> thank god season's finished eh johnsons, how cruel it would be if bloody Moreno was the end of us, if there's anything to make you stronger just think of him tanking another left footer into the second tier and the prospect that one day you might get to smack him in his gurning lobotomised looking mug, that'll get ya through. Seriously considering dropping the footie altogether next season it's that frustrating but obviously intrigued by the summer of Klopp and what we look like come August

@jenners04 Yeah we're all fine, I don't beat myself up about it, I simply didn't understand and once I did I helped.

Many people suffer from depression without realising they've got it. I split up with a woman who I loved deeply and entered the darkest period of my life. I was even out of work for 9 months for the first and only time in my life. My old business partner said depression was bollocks, until he went through exactly the same scenario. A regular poster on here knows what it's all about too.

I came out the other side as did my old partner, as did the regular poster. And so will you Johnners. Believe me. I'll PM you my mob, so you can talk about it to me if you want to <ok>

Some depression drugs can be harmful, I remember one doctor that gave a woman a drug called (Pos) something when the usual
doctor was on holidays. When her usual doctor came back he was unhappy.

So many quack therapies out there for depression, but try this, even for one month: quit alcohol, caffeine and sugar. Get a dog (or walk one for the RSPCA) for an hour a day. Take up jogging/cycling or just do 15 minutes of stairs a day. Go on, just try it for one month.

As Tobes says, the brain is a biological organ: it can be 'healed'. And you are not alone.
