It was his ''Buddy buddy'' act with Ferguson before our game at the theatre of debt.I reckon the players put in a poor performance because of that. They lost faith in him a month into the new season..and it showed. You would never see Kenny doing that. He's known Ferguson for over 40 years and if Ferguson oversteps the mark,He'll nail him to the floor.
He was at a loss, and totally understandable if you take into account he was Fulhams manager till the summer, new job new staff new players ect buUT he never looked confident, many a manager has plans that don't work, what they shouldn't do is look as if they are at a loss as it infects the fans the players and in the enbd Roy didn't inspire confidence in the team. he is a good coach getting the most out of average teams, that is his strenght, as with Arry, they have a level and this season they were managing above their level and well, look how it turned out. If only Kenny was given hte job in the summer, but I think the state of things when he took over made it a little easier to improve things overall. That counts for the first few games, now it has stabalized and the plan is to build on that stable foundation, I know Fergie took far longer to get it right, if it takes a year or two great, Fergie took 5 and was on the verge of the sack and look how it turned out. I think Kenny has that character, it must be a longer contract, 2 years is too short but does alude to the fact that Henry is thinking far beyond that.
Saying Kenny stablized the club is actually insulting Kenny. He's done that and more.Liverpool have sky-rocketed up the premiership and he's done what he did as a player,He's made the impossible.....possible.Nobody and I mean nobody expected Liverpool to be on the verge of European qualification after the season we've had.John Henry wanted the club to be in a ''respectable position''.He would have and I made this point before anywhere between 8th and 10th.This season has been a write-off since last October.John Henry knew that. However he needed to stop the rot,we were in a very precarious position. Kenny has instilled a belief,a confidence,a glimpse of an arrogance that hasn't been seen since 2009.The players are playing for each other.Kenny insists he hasn't done anything.Thats the old ''Liverpool way'' thats the way he was educated. He learnt that from Bob Paisley who said it was down to his players and thanked them.He always said when praise was levelled at him,''Sure I didn't do anything''.He did of course,He masterminded it. Some managers believe their own hype.Hodgson did it,Harry Redknapp is doing it.Kenny never did. When you do,you end up falling flat on your face. Kenny once said that in 1977,when he joined Liverpool first that even though his team-mates had just won the title and the European Cup,they acted like they won nothing. No big heads. They were kept on their toes.Ronnie Moran and Alan Hansen said this in an interview said in 1979,''Enjoy your summer, well done, its going to be even harder next season''.This was after he handed out title winning medals. The players believed it and guess what...they won the league again in 1980.
