Cheers Punch...Today has proved that we are a more dangerous team with him in it, his link up play with Clyne on the right is great. I've been thinking this for a while, I believe the team has less creativity in the final third when Davis plays. Don't get me wrong, I like him but I do not see him as being totally effective in an advanced midfield role, he would be better at CM. Surely there is room for JayRod, Punch, Rickie and Adam in the same team when Morgan and Corky are playing, we are still dominating possession but seem to lack a cutting edge recently.
I would start against Stoke with Jason in for Lallana as we looked far more mobile and dangerous when he came on
I think Puncheon is slightly better when he comes on as a sub. His impact is much greater then. When the opposition is just a little less than fresh, his ability to drop a shoulder and ghost past a player works a treat. That's not to say we shouldn't start him, just that he's very effective coming on later.
It is ironic when you consider the problems of the past with JP and his poor attitude - the reward for his apology and putting in the effort - to score the goal that should keep us in the premiership - football is full of ironies - one more for the list.
Here's a demented specsaver comment for a Saints fan to make... How come we're playing Brazil..? Geddit..?
About a year ago I offered to drive Jason Puncheon to the club of his choice just to get rid of him. I am publicly eating humble pie over this and want to thank him for scoring one of the most important goals in recent history. His apology and efforts to get back into the team are much appreciated. I think he has been unlucky not to have played more and think we have missed his link up play with Clyne massively. Anyway, thank you JP, I was wrong!!!
