It was a hard game for him but like the rest he wasnt good enough when he got the ball fair enough it happens. I havent seen enough of him to judge him but he look decent and capable of playing better. Also everyone saying Guly and Kelv was our only good player what about Lallana? He wasnt on song but of our few chances we made he was involved. I thought Guly was very poor first half but alot better second half when he played just behind the strikers which ive always though is his best posistion.
I think it was an off day all around, but I think you are right we got Guly and Lallana on the ball a bit more at the beginning of the second half and looked more comfortable in possession; they are the players that can create something out of nothing. I also agree Guly is best in the hole, like he played against Barnsley.
Let's not forget - had we lost points at Doncaster it would have been a disaster. We didn't, because Billy stepped up after Lambert had gone off. That's why Nigel bought him, because Rickie can't do it every game for the rest of the season. It didn't really work out for him today, but I thought he got in some good positions and was a little unclucky with the way some of his chances fell and the inccorect offside calls he suffered with. He didn't have a great game of course, but who did. His penalty was a shocker but as soon as we got it I thought - whoever takes this is going to miss it because they will be wishing Rickie was taking it same as me. I don't know whether Billy is going to become a great palyer for us - maybe he won't. He is here to lend extra firepower for the run in. At least with him on the pitch we had a chance. Ifwe hand't signed him our options today wouldd have been pretty limited.
I see my post was deleted. To reiterate, I'm embarrassed that you support the same team I do. What a thoughtless, pathetic, sarcastic, moronic post. 3 goals in 5 starts yet you've already concluded he isn't good enough. I hope he scores the winner against Pompey just because of this thread.
This is a pathetic article, It's one game where collectively the whole team were shocking, and to single ONE PLAYER out means you are just being biased
He wasn't as bad as some are making out. He missed a pen, sure (down to his confidence being non-existent), but he worked tirelessly and had little if no help, yet still carved out a few chances for himself and was wrongly accused of being offside twice, one of which happened just as he pulled the ball across the box to an unmarked Guly who had the net at his mercy - ****ING ****E LINESMAN, YOU WERE ****ING SHIIIIIITTTEEEE!!!!!! >
Well you clearly don't want him to play again if he's 'back to normal' which you consider to be 'shocking'. With Lee and Lambert's injuries, he's vital for us now. So stop trying to score points by saying "Ooh look at me, he missed a penalty today, I was right - he's DREADFUL" and get on supporting him for goodness sake.
No massive Guly fan on the fence about Sharp though. Even before we signed him! Big fish small pond. Speaking of ponds do you only crawl out from under your rock at night?.
That's what Billy needs, support. He is clearly lacking confidence, which is something vital for any striker. The only way for him to regain that confidence is with 100% support from the entire fanbase.
Your never going to get that though I am afraid every supporter is going to have a player they don't think should be in the team. Unfortunatly these peoples views can sometimes influence others and the next thing you know there's a army of people hating on just one player. Guly is the prime example for a lot of people my opinion of Sharp I view on here yes but I would never encourage anybody else to think that way and I certainly would never boo Sharp at a game EVER.
You would boo him, and have done previously. It's obvious you're a Sharp hater, don't try and hide it.
I don't boo any players at games do you sit next to me or something? I don't hate him either hate is a very strong word. My view is he wasn't the best signing to make it was a case of oh well we failed with our main Target let's go for 2nd best or maybe 3rd I don't know?. At Doncaster they allowed him to stand around the penalty area feeding off scraps whilst here at Southampton we play as a team and everyone works for each other and that's we how click. The penny hasn't dropped in that respect for Sharp yet.
As irrational singling out players to slag off, is the hero worship of the same players. There are players I certainly question, but dont go blindly slagging them off in a public forum (I do mention them at the ground, but usually to the rest of the CRBA with the call "prove me wrong". Against Blackpool, I cannot think of any outfield player that justifies a postitive mention....so I wont. I am though happy that we are 6 points clear of the playoffs. It was one game, not one man's fault... let's just hope we get a postive reaction (for the next 6 games!). P.S. Funnily nobody mentioned it was Sharp losing the ball that led to their penalty.
That's because were only allowed to slate certain players if i made a post about Guly it would of been fine or the other usual suspects. But if its Lambert, Lallana, Spider and now it seems Sharp because he cost a bit oooooh no that's not allowed.
