well he is 29 now..hmm .. and don't forget his injury record.. will you want to ask such a guy to stretch his physical limit and run more? tbh even Sir Alex only went for him bcz he missed out on his first target Moura who tick more boxes bcz he is younger .. RVP meanwhile is a fatalistic short term investment..
RVP has been fit with no injuries for about 3 years. It's possible his body has just grown out injuries, we also have the luxury of resting him so he won't overwork himself and pick up injuries. Something Arsenal didn't have.
If we win the league this season and RVP is the difference then 24million will have been a steal. Other clubs spend 2 or 3 times that to challenge for top 4.
you are right he didn't have an injury since some time (touching the wood) but remember overall the older the player , the more likely he will get injured more and need more time to recover no one is questioning the deal .. I think we got a quality player even if we didn't win the league am happy to watch him playing wearing our shirt .. financially, the money generated by sell of kits should cover that with no problem but for me he is not a long term signing that i wanted .. i preferred Sir Alex building a new team to make the job of the one succeeding him easier
"We have to look at it game by game but everybody wants to be champions. I feel that I'm surrounded finally by champions," he told MUTV following the Wigan victory. This is a special team," he told MUTV. "Everybody wants to help each other. Everybody's keen for everyone to score. Defenders are working their socks off for the midfielders, the midfielders are working for the strikers... everybody wants to run and everybody has one target in their mind. This wasn't the case at my previous club. "They know how to win and that makes it really easy for me." RVP

Honestly I think he was expecting that when he moved here. There was a reason he wanted to move to Manchester United over other clubs and I think that mentality he described us what really swayed him.
