Tevez in January?

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by KingHotspur, Dec 14, 2011.

  1. I think both Tevez and Torres will look at players like Scotty Parker and Adebayor, not to mention the likes of Moddy, Kaboul and Bale, and they will see how they have flourished under Harry and how they are playing some of the best football of their careers, with the environment of a dynamic and exciting team, and I am sure that they will be wishing they could get a piece of that particular action. Sure, the issue of wages is an obstacle that has to be overcome - it always is and will be - but negotiations are a two-way process, and certainly as far as Tevez is concerned, he surely cannot be under any illusion that he won't be getting the same wages from another club as he's being paid by £ity? That will be the case whether he leaves now, or at the end of his contract, having spent all of that time not playing competitive football. Even if he came to us for a year on a mere £80k per week, before buggering off to whichever club is prepared to double that sum, at least he'll have got his career back on track playing the type of football that will get him noticed again.

Think he's said something about his wife preferring the culture and weather in central Europe to England.

I think he got back with her, Notso.
Better sponsorship deals for a family man, probably.

Oh, has she...money talks eh! On the other hand that was the reason behind the initial wantaway from City in the first place. I still can't see City letting him turn up at their place in other PL colours, might be wrong...usually am! :)

"Cock and bull story" doesn't get past the work filters? ****'s sake...

Milan is the best part of 1000 miles south, which gets him closer to the southern hemisphere if nothing else...

Argentina is the most Italian of Spanish speaking countries, with a lot of Italian immigrants. The next best place to Argentina would be Italy, Tevez apparently thinks, more or less understandably.

Aside from the fact I think the chances of getting Tevez hover around zero, and also that I'm not particularly appalled at what I've heard about what Tevez has done, I'd be scared of how much of a one man team he is. Man City is considerably better without him, I think, just because he takes so much of the ball. Not that I blame him for it, but more than most, it's Tevez and ten others when he's on the field. When getting the balance right seems so important to Spurs, and they've been successful doing it, I'd worry about the effect Tevez would have.

Of course, I'd love to have him as a Plan B, but in any case I don't think Man City would let him go to Spurs, I don't think Spurs could pay him what he wants, and I do think this is the creation of journalists with space to fill, and few qualms about what to fill it with.

  14. Wouldn't touch the ogre with a barge pole...one of this season's marked improvements over the previous 20-odd years that I can remember is that the team spirit seems to be at an all-time high. The squad has really gelled into a cohesive unit and training sessions exude camaraderie and good humour amongst the players. Tevez represents the antithesis of that.

This was one of the things which worried me about taking Ade on loan, but- having apparently run out of toys to throw- he has matured into a genuinely nice bloke who is clearly a pleasure to have on the training ground.

Also, why the heck is everyone banging on about getting Torres?! I know Lawro keeps saying "he'll come good", but after 1.5 years of non-shows and clearly now lacking a half-yard of pace, I don't really think he'd be a step up for the squad, save for the sheer profile of it all.

Not sure Barca is a big enough club for Tevez.

  17. The funniest suggestion I heard today is that Villa are in for David Vila.
