I came because of Rodnee, I stayed because of Stan....and Terry< gerry, Dave Thomas made me a lifer.
Where are those characters now...nearest in last few years was Birch and Clint for me

I really admire the career of Terry Venables. He was very complete and successful footballer, as well as manager, and he was multi-talented as he later even wrote books, as well as the scripts for the Hazel TV series.

However, I supported QPR from 1972 (when I went to secondary school at Cardinal Vaughan in Addison Road, thus a walk away from the Bush) and was hooked by our "Golden Team" of Parkes, Clement, Gillard, Webb, McClintock, Leach, Thomas, Francis, Bowles, Masson and Givens. Those names still roll from your memory!

Had I then known what pain and punishment I will have to later endour, then I would have stayed with Spurs like all my cousins! :)

A very enjoyable read on Terry Venables from a certain Simon Dorest.

I think he Terry, Rodney and Stan are the reason that many of us follow the R's. :)
Personally I follow the R’s despite Simon Dorset. He’s a constant irritant. His writing is, I suppose, adequate though. And at least it’s on an interesting subject, unlike the endless analyses of this weeks performance, formation, tactics etc.

Such a shame that Venables left for Barca when he did - the whole structure of the club was right under his leadership. If I remember correctly, in the season that we won the old Second Division, we also won the reserves league (Football Combination) under Frank Mclintock and the juniors league (S.E.Counties) under George Graham.

Is that because he plys you with beer against you will!!!!!

An enjoyable read from an era when we really were a good side....

I have shared your pain for about 2 years longer than you. That team was amongst the most talented, committed sides I have seen at LR.
