My sources suggest that the bomber was a disgruntled norwegian opposition member. The prime minister was definitely the target of both the bombing and the shooting. He was due to visit the location of the shooting.

no-one has ever really doubted there still being an organisation after bin laden. maybe the idiots who stated that his death would be the end of terrorism and/or al qaeda did, but no-one of sound mind.

bin laden hadn't been properly operational for about 5 or 6 years prior to his death. not against the western world anyway. if he was, it would be organizing attacks in afghan and iraq. maybe the liquid bomb plot in 2006 was his last major involvement. the problem now is that al-qaeda aren't structured how they were for years, they're more splintered and spread throughout the region in small numbers due to the pressure being put on them. they're more difficult to catch because they're a smaller group, not to mention the countless # of sympathy groups they have, al-qaeda inspired groups and the threat coming out of yemen.

the threat is now not centered around one person or organization, which makes it even more dangerous

Shocking. I think everyone is working on the theory that it was right wing nutters trying to take out the leader of the country.

Yes the forces have made mistakes but everyone is quick to jump on the anti western bandwagon. Everyone forgets how Saddam persecuted his own people with chemical weapons, although you'll probably tell us it was an american conspiracy. You probably dont care that the taliban kill women and children in front of their families if they dont do as they demand as it is much better in your mind to slag of the forces trying to help them. Yes our government has other motives but so what. Do you think its also ok for gadaffi to start ethnically cleansing the east of his country just because some of the tribes do not agree with him? Maybe cameron should start killing anyone who dosnt support conservative? Maybe you feel I have a lack of basic manners but to suggest uk forces purposely kill civilians is like me saying you knee cap everyone because you live in Belfast and support Celtic, although judging by the second part of your username you probably do. Are you sure your lot arn't responsible for Oslo?

    I,m from the west myself.

I know what he done to the Kurds. Saddam was a bastard but you will be hard pushed to find an Iraqi that doesn't pine for him. Something like a million Iraqi civillians have died since America and Britain invaded the country (although British forces where comprehensively beaten in the south of Iraq).

    1. That first part is straight out of the Daily Mail, don't get me wrong though, the Taleban are vermin. 2. Britain and America are not there to help anyone but themselves, do not be fooled. Why did they not go after Mugabee? Where is the pressure on Saudi Arabia who only this week persecuted two women for driving. Guess why not?

No he's just trying to decimate them with his cuts to the public sector, a well known Labour strong area at elections.

    Aye, something like that.

Have Celtic FC planted bombs in the past then, or are you (please don't) going to tell me that Celtic fans condone terrorism?

Not sure that bringing Celtic fans and the IRA into this is appropriate, but anyway, awful news. There are now rife rumours that this was a domestic attack, and it has nothing to do with any international terrorist organisation.

Never knew of any political tension in Norway

Yeah, I have asked OLM/Dutch to lock down this thread. It's getting out of hand. Should have stayed inside the City board.......
