Nah the grunting is hella annoying, especially from the girls/women who go over the top with it... it's completely unnecessary, the women don't really hit the ball that hard and guys who hit it maybe 3x as hard play full matches without making any noises like that

There's actually a rule in tennis called an impediment where if your opponent makes an audible noise during a point that distracts you or puts you off hitting the ball then they concede the point or it's replayed... I dunno how some of this grunting isn't classified as an impediment as some of the women prolong it and are still doing the grunt noise when the opponent is hitting the ball again!!

With the fellas who do do this like Nadal it's more acceptable as it's never that loud and is more down to effort of hitting the ball. The women seem to use it as a tactical thing to put off other players

 

The time that is given over (and prize money) to women's tennis is bizarre. When Lindsay Davenport admits that her banker husband can even beat her at a game of tennis, then you know you really are watching a third division game. Watching screeching girls "slog" it out over just 3 sets with 10 minute breaks basically every game, yawn.

I hope football doesn't go the same way - I want to see the very best when I'm watching a game, and that will never be the case with women sports

She actually played well. Doubt she'll go much further, Serena in the 3R (potentially)

I'd say Djokovic is nailed on for the Men's, but hasn't been tested at all yet and his matches all seem to be too easy for him.

Cilic v Berankis shame only one could win, they both had an immense game , poor Berankis didn't deserve to lose.

 

I watched some of that. Felt sorry for the lad at the end, he looked like he was going to burst into tears.

 

He did, didn't he. In this heat as well. I admire the determination being shown by these tennis players which is lacking in football - well the football we watch anyway

 

My fav player... he looks well pudgy around the waist in his tennis gear but is actually quite lean

 

Only won because Hantuchova (fit bod, so-so face) didn't show up. Watson had to do very little to beat her. Soon as she meets a real player, probs next round, she'll get dumped out.

I like Lisicki in the women, quite fit and has a good attitude. Plus she's a future German Granny

 

Also those Kyrgios supporters are awesome. He was singing along with em at one point in his match today
