So, it’s almost 6 years to the day that I hesitantly plucked up the courage to post and join you lovely bunch of people, after lurking for some time. Something had happened during a City game which prompted me to post and join in. Have to say, you made me feel so welcome (well, most of you!)

Despite the odd bickering, I think the camaraderie & support for each other when needed is great, including myself, despite being a new poster some came to my defence when they felt appropriate early on. For me, I’ve felt quite humbled at times, such a diverse group of people & experiences, at how when needed the support for each other has been genuinely offered. The highlights, the MH thread, honesty & support, positive responses to various funding appeals, and last but not least, Filey T. He will never know how many people he supported. Who’d have thought all of this from a bunch of mainly blokes on a footie forum.

RIP Tickles RIP Filey Tiger

And to think you would never experienced the delights of curry sauce on haddock and chips.:emoticon-0105-wink:

I came across from CityMad along with a few others. It had been quite a good site but went downhill.

I took the occasional look after I left the site and many of the regular posters abandoned it. TIGERSCAVE and TwoWrights were solid posters who tried valiantly to generate interest but when they left for here the end was nigh.

I was an occasional poster on City Mad and the BBC site before it switched to Not606. The past ten years have flown by and this site is the second stop after checking my e-mails every day - it's a great source of up to date news (local, national and international), the debates and banter are sometimes frustrating but never dull and, best of all, the site is a rich source of pure comedy gold. Long may it continue and, to save typing, I'll take this opportunity to wish all posters and lurkers all of the very best, not just for the coming year but for at least the next ten.

10 years have flown by what a roller coaster of events from an FA cup final to 2 quick relegations.

I was also on city independent & the old bbc606 - think I was Alderley edge tiger in those days

I still haven't forgotten the kind and supportive words I got from many forum members on here when my Dad passed - 7-8 years ago now. My head was a mess but it helped me immensely at the time being able to talk about it, (and he was actually a poster on here himself for a short period).

But one thing I hate about this forum is the constant talk about fish and chips. It has been many years since I've experienced Hull fish and chips and this constant talk reminds me how good they are compared to the crap we get served west of the Pennines!

There’s a really really good chippy in Alderley Edge - fairly close to you!! It’s on London road, next to the Trafford pub.

I know Sir Cheshire Ben uses it too!

Fosters.

Top Nosh.

Eaten some calories out of there.

Credit Crunch Lunch x2

They do (when allowed) sit downs & provide unlimited chips with your order.

Decent ales in the De-Trafford too. I stayed there for a few weeks when I first came over this way.

To be fair there are some reasonable chippies around the area - I know a decent one in Frodsham. But there is something about Yorkshire fish & chips, particularly Hull that nowhere else compares to. Maybe it's just nostalgia on my part.

Give fosters a go ~ as Sir Ben says it’s top notch. Every bit as good as a Hull chippy! Enjoy

It's simple really. Fish and chips are very popular in Hull. It's a part of our culture, so if its not decent it won't last five minutes.
