It was 4 games that Bruce played and the first one was the complete shut-out against Blackburn where one of the best strike forces in the league were restricted to one single long-range shot all game.
Who was at fault for the goals. I'm not picking on you candy but if you read all this thread the knee jerking going n is ****ing disgusting and AB is getting all the blame by people nt even there.
To take note that was at home though where we very rarely lose anyway. As I said before, I'm not saying it's particularly Bruce's fault, but just that he's possibly the weak link in our back three. Didn't Bruce come on for McShane in the Blackburn game anyway as Macca went off injured? Making it 10 goals conceded in 3 games that Bruce has started?
Nobody was individually at fault for the goals. It was just the team lacking a little effort defensively in the small periods were they seemed to lose concentration. I was at the game and I am just trying to say that Bruce really struggled tonight and it just seems coincidence that we've conceded 10 whilst he's been in the starting line up which is a shame because I feel as though he's proved his doubters wrong this Season and TWS fans that claim he was shocking. Tonight it was just a combination of refereeing decisions and lapses of concentration that lead to their goals. Saying that, I'm pretty sure from where I was sat, Jack Hobbs did not hand ball for their second penalty. I need to see a Camera view really.
Fair enough. My memory is shocking. We certainly need to tighten up away from home. This is getting ridiculous. We should have different approaches to home and away games. At home, we can get away with having more attacking players on, but away, we should really have a more defensive midfield and play on the counter. Brady and Elmo certainly have the pace to counter attack effectively.
What was our back three against Leeds? That was strong. I'd like to see McShane and Faye restored for Hobbs (wash my mouth out) and probably Bruce, but Meyler was so poor in mid today I might put Bruce in to try to firm things up against Burnley away. Koren had a fairly nothing game today though too. Tonight we needed an Ashbee.
Why not? After the Bolton game that was the consensus at the time... Why's that changed because we lost another game away to a good side? It's just panic because we could have been much better off had we won. We didn't win and nor did we deserve to. There's ten games to go and Bruce needs to work on the defence a bit. We're doing more than ever to put chances away than we have for the past 4/5 seasons and our 'slump' if you'd even call it that isn't as bad as Cardiff or Leicester's so I thinkwe're sitting ok at the moment.
No I don't, I don't really give a **** about any of them. I just don't like scape goating a player. I've just looked for the Wednesday game at home when we were at home and got beat 3-1. Back 3 of Hobbs chezzy n Faye. Probably still AB's fault
Think that was Chester, Hobbs, Faye. Which is or best back 3 by a long way in my opinion. Just lacks a bit of pace.
I'd have that back 3 against Burnley. Austin was virtually non-existent against us at the KC and we'll hope to keep him quiet again even if he has fallen off the goal trail of late.
The problem with Faye is, as much as I like him when he's match fit, it will take him a few games to get his match sharpness back
It also helps if you have officials that don't give cheating free kicks. The lads kept pulling out of tackles cause the palace players fell over everytime a City player went near them and the apology of a ref and his lino fell for it everytime. What made me laugh was Zaha accusing a City player of doing it. He was diving all ****ing night
^this...Watford have been doing this for a while and don't concede many. This for Burnley Chester Faye McShane Elmo Fahti Quinn Brady Boyd Meyler Gedo Gives the front 3 and the wing backs a licence to play. I'd prefer Quinn to Meyler in the 2 holding midfields because his ball retention is excellent and he can drop in behind Brady when he bombs on....we need Meyler to keep scoring also.
One thing's for sure, SB will now surely be seriously considering playing two defensive midfielders on Monday, and I reckon it will be Meyler & Fathi, but who drops out, it surely has to be between Koren and Quinn. Koren was, again, anonymous for much of the game last night, Quinn has a good understanding with Brady on the left, and when it clicks it can be breathtaking, so on that basis, for me, it must be Koren that's dropped.
I'd be cautious of playing two midfielders in defensive positions because that could just bring the return of our goalscoring famine. I'd move Meyler forward a bit again and use Bruce, Fathi or Evans in the holding role when we need someone. But in certain games if SB feels we can take teams apart by playing Meyler, Koren and Quinn then that's fine with me too. All I want to see is some consideration in the line-up rather than simply "We won so no changes."
Away from home definitely....we're like a sieve at the moment away from the KC! Need to protect the back 3 (sitting midfielders) and give our wing backs more freedom to get forward.
