I don't want to cause any further discontent, but from a purely technical aspect, you could log in to one account with mobile internet and the other with a land line or another mobile device.

    ip addresses are bullshit.

If that is true then my point is very valid and I was not threatening you with any kind of legal action just to clear that up

Is Laurab libel or is she being libeled? Is it libel on an internet forum or is it slander (I have always wondered this, note to self must get a life)? Is this Irene on Saintsweb such a bad person that it is worth taking out a libel action against Sotonist?

I'm no lawyer but I reckon the time and money in taking out a libel action against Sotonist would be way more than you would get in return.

Laura, you're correct, internet tort is a pretty hot topic at the moment and some pretty ground-breaking, aggressive precedents are being set.

However you'd need to prove the accusations were false. You'd then need to prove that he made the statement without reasonably thinking it was correct and that he tried to pass off his statement as fact rather than as an opinion. You'd then need to show your reputation has been severely damaged.

If you found a lawyer to represent you, I'd very much like to meet him!

How I wish I hadn't sold my soul and worked in the field of tort- far more interesting.

In other news...Are we expecting Schneiderlin to be in the squad on Sunday?

It's only ever libel online. Slander is "less permanent" and everything written online is considered permanent.

rest assured, the bullshit is pretty much limited to false negatives. unless you share an internet address or device with a person there is unlikely to be any way of legally connecting you.

even so, current IPv4 internet addresses are so limited that every device sharing a connection is indistinguishable and so it is difficult to prove any one user is responsible.

Morgan probably was given a gentleman's agreement, however, who was witness to this gentleman's agreement and who made it? I doubt no one currently at the club can corroborate his story.

Morgan is being a stupid boy and is in a no win situation. Saints are rich enough to not play him and if he refuses to train or play Saints can fine him. Feels like Jason Puncheon all over again. Do we have to wait 2 years for him to back down and give us an apology?

His best course of action now is that now the club are aware he is not happy is to keep his head down and work hard, earn a move and leave on good terms instead of behaving like a pampered baby.

To compare him to Tadanari Lee who may not have been good enough but his attitude was world class and earned all the opportunities he got. I wish all players were like that.

The gentlemans agreement theory tallies with the Cortese inserting contract clauses rumour and the broken promises rumour that a number of ITKers corroborate

Cortese had possibly gone rogue on this matter.

It'd be weird if when Cortese left he was the only one who knew about this agreement. It's hard to say whether the current board should honour a promise Cortese apparently made, but if they were aware of it for a while (and let's be honest, unless communication at this club is even more of a complete joke than I already think, someone else must have been aware) then you'd think they'd have discussed it with Morgan before the summer came around, or, knowing that he'd been wanting out for a while, get looking for a replacement and just let the man leave.

It boggles the mind that Cortese and Morgan could have made this agreement some time ago, and only this summer the board had it sprung on them. Surely not.

note that morgan signed his deal before we had stayed up while the players who left on bad terms all signed in the summer.

beefy (iirc) reckons ward-prowse has a release clause though and he signed two summers ago.

It doesn't boggle my mind at all. Cortese acted like an emperor running the club. He was accountable to no one. That is part of the reason why he left, the owner wanted more accountability and an expanded board, you know, like most high turnover, high profile businesses.

I'm not saying it is definitely the case. But it would not surprise me if there were exchanges that no other directors / senior management were privy to

wouldn't surprise me if these were personal assurances that only came to light when the contracts started getting amended to reflect these private agreements and that was what brought the owner down on him like a ton of bricks.

    no fat joke intended.

I find it entirely plausible that there was an agreement between Cortese and Schnitzelin that nobody knew about, bar his agent. The board are under no obligation whatsoever to uphold verbal agreements made by someone no longer employed by the club.

That doesn't really even get close to my point. If Morgan had agreed with Cortese that he'd be leaving this summer, why would Morgan not tell anyone about it? Surely his teammates (aka friends) would know. Surely he'd let Les Reed know. Why the hell would he not? How could Morgan be under the impression for an entire season that he'll be leaving at the end of the season, and not let anyone at the club know that he's been under this impression? Do people at Southampton FC just not talk to each other?
