I think the point the OP also fails to address when using this thread to have a dig at Chelsea, is that whilst we rode our luck this year, we've had horrific luck and injustice in the C.L for many years and it was bound to fall in our favour eventually.

Maybe the OP should start a thread about the most unlucky teams to not win the C.L but I guess that wouldn't serve his agenda.

Rubbish; you finished around top four four seasons in a row and when you were in the relegation zone Racist Ron was sacked. Oh how you suffered under Racist Ronnie

But tbf, you United fans were hurting even then from being relegated once in 75 years. And let's not forget your 1900 winding up order

Well was it three or four or five? In the knockout stages, you came from behind twice.

We came from behind v Napoli, Barcelona, and Bayern in the knock out stages. But it was a fluke and we were lucky.

I think his point was quite valid actually. You used United's ability to come from behind to support the impressiveness of the C.L win in 99 yet this whole thread started as a dig at Chelsea's win in 2012. LOEW illustrated we had come from behind even more than United did in 99. Not saying 99 was less impressive as a result; just that LOEW's point was far from 'desperate'.

Anyway...can't we just all laught at the clubs who haven't won it yet rather than tear apart our own special achievements!?!?

Hes desperate because hes now looking for anything to try and tip the argument in his favour.

United had luck in 99, Chelsea in 2012. United actually won everything that season so of course we are going to need luck here and there, chelsea had the chance to prioritise the CL once the league had gone earlier in the season.

I think us winning it in normal time makes a bit of difference aswell, we came behind and won with football no penalties. Nothing wrong with that method but as you know all to well, anything can happen in penalties <ok>

Lol, maybe that's just my red tinted vision coming into play. Or maybe I was baiting LF...we'll just never know <whistle>

True, but then plenty of other clubs have had bad luck and injustice too - Dortmund had a shot deflect off Pallister and go right in the top corner in the semis in 1997, two or three shots cleared off the line against Leverkusen in 2002, the disallowed goal against Porto in 2004 and Ribery conning the ref to get Rafael sent off in 2010 spring to mind for us. Your lucky goal against us in 2008 could well have cost us that year as well. Ultimately you get your good luck, you get your bad luck, the team that deals with them best will win the trophy.

Which is why Marseille are still the least deserving winners for me. ****s <ok>

True but we've also been eliminated on pens in a semi and final and gone out on away goals...so again, eventually it was bound to go in our favour.

If we were lucky, I can't see how we didn't deserve some.

If you keep on succeeding in CL, reaching semis (five) and finals (2) eventually your luck will change.

Hopefully now we've made the breakthrough we will win one or two more in my lifetime.

Especially if we get our annual byes v Barca or Liverpool. Unbeaten v the blaugranes in 11 matches 11 v 11.

As is ever the case, the thread has turned to a pissing contest. Would help if ****tards like BBf didn't interject but what can you do?

Anyway, I believe that a champions league is won over the course of the tournament, not just the final, so to say ANY of the aformentioned sides were lucky is, quite frankly, bollocks.

The '99 run is one I have a good angle on as I went to most of the home games and the final, we were pretty ****ing far from lucky to win that tournament.
Having the best CM partnership in world football suspended for the final was really, really lucky I must say, it gave us the opportunity to play Ryan Giggs on the right wing and Jesper Blomqvist on the left. How lucky is that?

I also think that people overlook who Liverpool had to beat to get to the 2005 final. Yeah, a bit of luck in being given a goal that wasn't and that obviously grates with you lot but overall they got there by right. It's not as bad as having a definite goal chalked off and watching that toss pot of a former manager of yours running down the touchline when you've been robbed blind!!

Drogs will back me up here, I congratulated you lot on both beating Barca and then winning the final. I Personally didn't care a **** how you went about it, a win is a win and only utter tool heads like Londons only blah blah winners ****ing blah try to go back and re write what actualy happened, making things up while he's at it.

You're all getting boring now, wrap it up.

    <ok>

In my opinion its ludicrous to suggest any side didn't deserve to win the Champions league. Yes sides did have luck, but they won it, so they deserved to. Only bitter and jealous people would suggest one side deserved to win it over another.

    Not that simple.

Juve were Italian champs going into the 98/99 CL campaign and were a great side both home and in europe.

AC milan were also Champions of Serie A aswell though the league.

I would say equals, individuals only tell half the story. Not that Juventus were lacking of course <ok>

It's tough i'll admit that. But personally i'd go AC. Some of the clubs best ever players in that team, and some of the best players to have ever graced the Champs League.

I'm not putting down United win in 99 btw.
