San Siro doesn't excite me, I've been and thought it was a dump with fans like the recent Palace fans.. I genuinely want the back of beyond, although Holland, Belgium or Iceland would be good.
Dump is a bit far for the Giuseppe Meazza, dated definitely. It was last refurbed for the 1990 world cup so it's not surprising. For me it's precisely like Old Wembley - looks well past its best and isnt really fit for purpose but oozes history. I rmember Moratti saying Dortmund sell 300,000 pints a match and you cant even get a drink in his ground - think of the money lost there? This is precisely why both resident clubs are looking to build their own new stadia.
Erm no, they think it's dated and not fit for purpose, exactly as I said. Was old Wembley 'a dump' or was it steeped in history but of its time? I do think one of the Dutch or Belgian away games would be ace though.
Precisely. The kids and whatnot won't want to hear short stories about trips to some of footballs biggest teams and iconic venues, they'd much sooner hear how we scraped wins against Leicester and Swansea and finished 12th in the premier league!
This for me too. I aren't bothered about playing a 'big club' or whatever. The excitement for me is just the idea of playing in Europe. Watching City play competitive football in another country. Being in the away end in a foreign country. The Europa League music (hardly steeped in history I know but it's still exciting). But the idea of playing Bruges or one of the Dutch teams and loads of us hopping on the ferry, that'd be just ****ing great.
No it wouldn't, I might mean we don't play as well on the Sunday after against Burnley and only win 1-0 and finish 14th on goal difference instead of 13th. It'd be ****ing ****.
Humberside police will ban us from europe The thought of foreign hooligans coming over absolutely terrifies them, we're not having 7 icelandic brutallus warriors coming here no surey!
At least it will give them something to do. If we enter at the third qualifying round, we could hopefully get somebody from Eastern Europe and get through. It's the fourth qualifying round that's usually harder as I believe it contains teams that have dropped out of the Champions League.
Yes and No. The losers of the CL 3rd QR go into the EL 4th QL round. The losers of the 4th QR of the Champions League go into the EL Group Stages. Then the 8 third place teams in the CL go into the first knockout round of the EL. It's basically a safety net for bigger clubs, just in case they don't make it through.
