The midfield we have creates little, we often concede an early goal and the tactics are no doubt more cautious. But in the remaining games we can't afford to be too cautious. Attack can be the best form of defence. Setting out to just defend makes it much easier for the opposition.
****ing Newcastle. So frustrating, so inconsistent. I fancied them today. They needed to show a bit of metal. Carver should have had them up for it. A bit of Geordie passion. A bit of steel. Be the spoilers. Snarl. Fight. Grit. Should have known better. Bloody pussycats. Bollocks.
TBH, I don't think Everton were ever in the relegation scrap, it's just they've had a bad run for whatever reason & they're European exploits haven't helped a lot of the time.
I agree - their points/position wasn't a true reflection. I only included them because of their points/position.
Definitely should be included as you say but every so often there's a shock team drawn into the relegation battle. Everton were almost down in the mid 90's I think, squeaked by on the last day.
Burnley got me half of my City losses back, great goal by Boyd too. How come Burnley looked fluid in their game yesterday, from front to back, yet we seem to lack that ingredient in our play?
Remember it well. They survived only by a great comeback on the last day. I'd love to see them go down. Love it. But thanks to Newcastle's insipid lack of ambition it looks like they won't get dragged into it this year.
97/98 season, they stayed up on goal difference. it came up on another thread recently, as it was the last time all three promoted teams went straight back down.
