Just thinking about it, I'm not sure how much importance NP places on the league cup, given that we were knocked out by Brentford last year with a half decent side. Granted, we will see a few players leave and almost certainly a couple more in, what kind of side do you think will play? I'll hazard a guess of...
----------------Oxley------------
Rosenior -----Bradley ---Chester -----Dudgeon
Emerton ----- Cairney ----- Bullard ----- Devitt
--------------Ghilas ---------Fryatt -------
Subs:
Gulacsi
Hobbs
S. Gardner
Atkinson (if he is still here)
Barmby
Simpson
Ford
I reckon NP will want to see Oxley in a competitive game this season. A back four with the experienced Rosenior keeping them steady will hold and will also give Sonny Bradley a chance to show us what he can do (I hear he really impressed with IK Frej). Again, a midfield of 3 youngsters, one who has no first team experience, coupled with an old head to help keep them in line. I figured if Ghilas hasn't gone, this will be his game to show NP he cares. Pre season is all well and good, but it's a perfect opportunity for him in a competitive match. Also put Ray Ford on the bench, I hear he scored a bucket load last season in the reserves, so if he keeps up his impressive form, he might get a place on the bench.
All in all a team that can win in front of what will probably be a meagre home crowd, but will give us a chance to cast our eyes over the younger players.
