This team is mediocre to say the least, but the tactics and formation is pathetic, what is our option. Kit does not seem to want to abandon his failed diamond formation., So I am afraid to say , Goodbye Kit, ~ or goodbye to our championship status
I'd agree that it COULD get embarrassing, but it already is embarrassing to be fair. We're going through a mid-season wobble, we don't look capable of winning any game right now nevermind against these top of the table sides. I mentioned elsewhere that having looked at the fixtures I don't see where our next win is coming from, it's a real possibility that we'll find ourselves in the relegation zone very soon.
Clearly a game of one half when our defence went BOGOF and our forwards couldn’t - First Half - 61% possession. We had 9 shots but only 2 on target (both - Fofana and Mc Cormack - weak efforts) whereas Wolves had 6 shots and 3 goals. please log in to view this image Fortunately the results elsewhere didn‘t do any damage. Except that is Brighton, who beat Leeds 2-0 and jumped ahead of us. Doesn’t seem so long ago when we were 12 pts ahead of them.
This team will play well with 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 if he wants to accommodate Ruiz. Bring Burn in for Bodurov. Hutchison is playing well. LVC thrives as a box to box midfielder as long as there is cover. Who can do that? Hoogland potentially or Fofana in the short term. Play with some wingers to provide cover to the fullbacks. The diamond has failed!!! Personally I think he is out of his depth and tactically not ready for championship... Even the excuse of Mad-Felix cannot be used any more!
Yes, but what wingers? We have Kacaniklic and that's it, unless we reintegrate Adil Chihi. Oh and there is tgat Roberts kid, but he presumably isn't fit enough to play more than 5 minutes. It's almost as if we made a conscious choice to remove all our wingers to ensure we only had a plan A. I don't understand our approach in January at all.
Very valid point... I would play Kavanagh - Staf on the left and Grimmer - Richards on the right. Not the best but at least they will track back and defend. Priority for me is to shield our defense where we are leaking!! Drop Hugo, beef up the midfield with LVC, Parker and Fofana and McC on his own up front. With the 3 of them in there one can run in the box with the remaining providing cover. Second option use 2 of LVC, Parker, Fofana and McC with Smith or Woodrow or Hugo... My point is that I would like Kit to try something different.
A unique 'mole's eye' view of our defensive (and marcus Bettinelli's) frailties in this video of the Wolves' goals -
No idea what Stafylidis was doing for the first. If he stays on the post it's not a goal. Bettinelli just leaned into his own player and then complained to the ref, not sure what about. The second was due to Sakho not being closed down for the shot and the third is just awful all round.
Interesting goal cam pictures - First goal, players casually walk back to the centre spot as if it was just another goal conceded at training. To add to our list of "lacking" is a proper leader pushing and motivating the players during the game. The players should have been pissed off losing that goal and saying "right, let's get a goal back then" A bit of positive verbal aggression - and that should include Kit himself who dumbly stands about. I hope he was livid at the end of the game, it's about time. With all the possession and pretty football there is no width and a total lack of urgency that it's so easy for Wolves, and everyone else we play, to regroup and push us back. Kit takes a lot of the blame but some of these players are being given a unique chance and need to start caring.
Interesting that when the corner is taken Staflydis has his back to the taker and is running across to take a position on the goal line. How can you defend if you aren't even looking at where the ball is being delivered or when it is coming into the danger area? I've not had one lesson in football coaching but even I can see that.
